I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Pema by Realm in Bhutan, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Hands down it is my favorite hotel stay in the world…and I have been to many hotels around the world! From the moment we checked in, the hospitality and attention to detail were beyond anything I could have imagined. The staff greeted us with fresh squeezed juice and a traditional white scarf. They also carried all our bags to the room. The hotel manager Hem escorted us to our room and pointed out everything to us and shared all the special touches the room had including local made art, pottery and baskets. They also had a hand written personalized card and gift basket for us that truly showed how much they care for every person staying with them. We were celebrating my friend's birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion. Not only did they beautifully decorate the room with balloons, and a birthday banner, but they also baked a delicious fresh fruit cake for her. It was delicious! This thoughtful gesture set the tone for an unforgettable stay. We stayed in a suite overlooking the valley. The room itself was spacious and immaculate, showcasing a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The decor was a mix of modern and traditional Bhutanese art. It was spotlessly clean providing a serene sanctuary after our long days at our meditation retreat. The bed was very comfortable and the room had blackout drapes which made for a peaceful night sleep. We also got a pull out bed for a third friend and they gave us a topper for it that made it extra comfortable. When it was hot, they brought us a stand up cooling fan that made us feel even more comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a glass shower and the water pressure was amazing. We loved that the hotel had a sauna and steam room that was available 24/7 and we had several facials and massages at the spa during our stay. The massages were divine and helped soothe our tired muscles after hiking Tigers Nest! Definitely book a spa treatment while staying here! The food at The Pema was another highlight of our stay. Every meal was a culinary delight, with a variety of delicious dishes that catered to all tastes. Some of our favorites were the pad Thai, hot and sour soup, Tom Kha soup, curries and of course all the baked goods. They have a bakery on site and the muffins were delicious! The quality and presentation of the food were also exceptional, and we found ourselves looking forward to each dining experience. We loved the dining room for breakfast and also the rooftop for dinners. The staff at The Pema were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready with a smile and eager to assist with any request. In the morning, the waiters remembered what we liked to drink and would have it brought to our table before we could even ask for it! The hotel manager, Hem, deserves a special mention. A touch of luxury arriving in Bhutan! Lovely large room with courtesy fruit and treats and everything required to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a spa in the basement, which I didn't have time to use, but I particularly loved the rooftop terrace area with bar and snack facilities open to the sunshine. I ate in the bistro cafe rather than the dining hall - small, friendly and quirky with a good menu choice for myself, a vegetarian, and a relaxing place to take breakfast with an outside area. I would certainly recommend to fellow travellers to Thimpu.

The Pema was a wonderful experience. Service was excellent, from the reception welcome tea, housekeeping, restaurant to checkout. Professional and seamless. Decor was warm and cozy, high quality. Excellent food, kudos to the chef! Great experience, we miss it!

Spotless room, extremely comfortable bed and amazing shower. The staff were extremely accommodating. Breakfast menu was plentiful. Will definitely stay here again in the future. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

The Pema by Realm turned out to be the best part of the trip. The front office manager, Hem was so courteous throughout our journey. Right from booking the hotel to planning our itinerary. We didn't really know what to expect when we chose Bhutan as a holiday destination but we were simply blown away by how warm the people are. They were always ready to go out of the way to help us out, whether it was running down to the market to getting anything or helping us settle into our room. So much so that they even told us multiple times that if anything in the room was not to our liking they would change it for us. We planned this trip around my father's birthday and honestly it was probably his best till date. The entire hotel celebrated his birthday like he was one of their own. They decorated the room and got him a chocolate cake to celebrate. Melam, did a great job in planning the celebrations and making our stay comfortable, right from checking in to ensuring our rooms were comfortable. The food at all the restaurants in the hotel was amazing. We used to order a lot of room service if we didn't feel like going down to the restaurant to eat. They have lots of options for everyone to pick and everything tastes amazing. It's a no brainer to eat at any of their restaurants. Picking the right hotel is important since you are possibly going to eat a lot of meals in the hotel after sightseeing/hike/visits. I'd also like to thank dhongfu, yeshi for taking us through bhutan as our guide and Jimmy for driving us to all these beautiful sites.

The hotel is a one-stop shop that can help organize your entire visit to Bhutan: from obtaining visa to securing flights in and out of Bhutan to all local transport and guide arrangements. The hotel itself shows that a great deal of thought and attention have gone into the design and operations of this hotel: warm welcome, genuine hospitality, nicely decorated rooms, luxurious towels! The dining experience is also excellent: offers both Bhutanese, Asian, and Western options. The pastry is probably the best in Bhutan. We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing stay, and appreciated all the local travel arrangements made by the hotel.
