特尼卡日特飯店(Te Nikau Retreat)

Prettige ontvangst al is dat eenvoudig qua presentatie. Het ligt buitenaf maar is goed toegankelijk direct aan grote straat. Het appartement is gehorig maar er was geen sprake van overlast. Koop wel sand flies repellent voor als je buiten bent,

Die Bilder scheinen schon einige Jahre alt zu sein, denn der aktuelle Zustand hat nichts mit den Bilder zu tun. In den Zimmer ist überwiegen abgelaufener Teppich, und auch in den Ecken könnte mal sauber gemacht werden. Weiterhin war ein Zimmer ziemlich muffig (Schimmelgeruch). Auch in der Küche war das Mobiliar und die Einrichtung (Geschirr) nicht für die Anzahl der Zimmer bzw. Gäste eingerichtet. Auch beim Service ließ es zu wünschen übrig, oftmals wurden Emails nur sehr spät oder gar nicht beantwortet.

A wonderful retreat and place to relax while exploring the area. The host was very friendly and accomodating. A communal living room area to chill and meet others was great. Had a quiet night sleep in The Stargazer, it was incredibly peaceful amongst the native New Zealand forest. Will be sure to be back for a third visit sometime in the future for sure!

Our stay in Mamaku cottage was very comfortable and Chris and Marley were very helpful. We enjoyed visiting Pancake Rocks, Trueman Track and the walk along the Porari River. The local hotel and cafe provide tasty evening meals and breakfast.

Te Nikau retreat is a small house hidden in the bush between Greymouth and Franz Joseph. The house is nothing special but perfect for someone wanting to get away from it all at a really good price in an exceptionally amazing setting. Would recommend it!

Ti Nikau was not quite what i expected. It’s more of a hostel type of place with quaint little places in the bush. We stayed in Mamuku cottage and noone was staying above us so it was nice and quiet. However it is very old and tired and needing some TLC. All the cutlery and crockery are mismatched and the floor felt gritty. The bed was comfortable. There is wifi if you can get it. Which we couldn’t, unless standing on the drive ( in the rain). It was ok for one night but honestly at $150 a night it was the dearest and worst place of our West Coast trip.

We stayed for one night, the room was clean with a comfy bed, full use of the kitchen including a stove, microwave, kettle and fridge. There was a large communal lounge area and two showers in our lodge which was plenty. Make sure you bring your food with you as there are no supermarkets for 40 minutes from the property and few restaurants that are expensive if you’re on a budget.

When we arrived on the first day the cabin was an absolute oven as it was a sunny day and all the windows and doors were shut apart from the one small window that did not shut at all as it needed repairs. When darkness fell we discovered that 3 light bulbs were blown including the two over the kitchen bench but we were too tired to request repair that night. During the night we were disturbed by mice in the kitchen and we found mouse pooh all over the kitchen including on the cutlery the next morning. We politely requested light bulbs and mouse traps and we were advised by the staff in a defensive fashion that these matters would be attended to while we were out that day. They were not attended to. The cabin had beds for 7 but living room seating for 6, one of which was backless and one sofa was the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever sat on. There were many other bad details such as only 4 dessert spoons, taps that were hard to turn off, one tap the handle fell off, three beds were attached together so if one person moved all 3 beds moved. All together this was a really bad experience and it was very embarrassing for me as the local lad hosting family members from the UK.
