Het verblijf bij One Drake Road and Appartments was een ware ervaring. Het huis ademt geschiedenis en de passie van de gastheren is direct merkbaar aan het sublieme interieur. Iain en Jack waren een bron van geweldige tips in de ruime omgeving. Tavistock heeft ons gecharmeerd met zijn historische gebouwen, rivier en lekkere artisanale producten van de dagelijkse Open Market. One Drake Road and Appartments is een absolute aanrader voor een verblijf in Devon en/of Cornwall. Wij waren zo tevreden dat we nog een nacht bijgeboekt hebben.

Einrichtungsmäig ist das Hostel natürlich toll. John und Iain geben sich sehr viel Mühe und haben alles sehr geschmackvoll und stylisch eingerichtet. Von uns gibt es trotzdem nur 3 Punkte, weil das Bett in unserem Zimmer eine Katstrophe war. Vollkommen durchgelegene, viel zu weiche Matraze und dann quietschte das Bett bei jeder leisesten Bewegung. Ich verstehe nicht, wie man das Gästen heutzutage noch zumuten kann! Wir haben die ganze Nacht kein Auge zugetan. Außerdem mussten wir uns WC und Bad mit anderen Gästen teilen. Auch dies empfinde ich nicht als zeitgemäß. Man kann nur hoffen, dass die Gastgeber hier bald für Abhilfe sorgen!

This review is one of only a handful I have ever done. Which tells you I am saving reviews for only the exceptional. This place ticks all the boxes. I came for one night with my Daughter and we loved every second of the stay. It was better than described inside and that doesn't happen often. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. Extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. and their interior design skills need more awards. It was warm and cosy. The bed was heated. The place smelled incredible as soon as we walked in. Location is amazing. Tavistock is a lovely town, anything you want from Dartmoor is nearby. The water was hot. The outside areas are peaceful. I mean it was impeccable. Seriously, not only will I be back, but I will aim to stay here on every visit to Dartmoor in the future. I literally feel no need to book anywhere else. I even misread the child age limit and I do recommend calling ahead if you have young family. I felt I was going to cause upset and actually Charlotte was given a beautiful little toy to take with her, which she loves and was made to feel like the most welcome guest. The cherry on the top for her after a stay she will remember forever. This is a 10/10 apartment.

While One Drake is clean, spacious, and well located, and for most of you would be a perfect place to stay, I am the kind of person who reacts badly to strong scents. I cannot be in a closed room with a blooming hyacinth. Candle shops and perfume counters make me physically ill. And so, if you are anything like me, you do not want to stay here. From the incense burning when you come in the door, to the scent containers in the bathroom, and especially the scented spray on the pillows, there is simply nowhere in this building where you are free to breathe air that is not scented in some way. For some of you, that may be nirvana. For me, it was not.

Jack and Iain came to our rescue! Literally, we was in need of a family member to come stay last minute. We called Jack and within 5 minutes he had booked us a room with a late check in. After a long drive from up north my aunt arrived with simple instructions from Iain we found a warm cozy room with gorgeous Neil’s yard organic toiletries. Was super clean with fresh smelling sheets, Jack made sure my aunt had plenty of milk and teabags (she loves her tea) thank you Jack and Iain we will definitely be booking our family members with you again

Wonderful hidden gem. We stayed for 1 night for my best friend’s and partners birthday. Everything we needed was in here, down to the little touches to make our stay perfect. Towels were warm, milk and teas etc on arrival. Candles lit, music on. The vibe was insane. The price was perfect. Very accommodating the owners allowing us early check in at short notice for a small fee which was worth it. It really was incredible. Bedding soft and beds comfortable. Absoutley wonderful! Thank you.

Jack and Ian have restored this Georgian building in the centre of Tavistock beautifully. I was surprised to find that neither of them are interior designers. Lovely breakfast, including the best sausages I've had in yonks. The couple are very charming and even gave me a Christmas present and a slice of Ian's birthday cake. I come from the Tavistock area, originally, and One Drake Road is a tremendous addition. Hopefully, Jack and Ian take the town over, eventually, and turn it into the Notting Hill of West Devon.

We recently stayed at One Drake Road hosted by the lovely and very hospitable couple Jack and Iain. We booked the basement apartment as we are Mom and daughter travelling but we like our own rooms. The apartment has a communal area with kitchenette and shared bathroom and a little entertainment are and then two bedrooms both huge and uniquely decorated and utterly charming with so much decor to look, it really reflects Iain and Jacks warm personalities. Breakfast is hosted in the main guest house and is very relaxed and simple which was more than enough for us each day. There is no parking but there are several car parks nearby. We parked at a friend's house so for us was not an issue really. As hosts I can't say enough nice things about Iain and Jack and of course Gracie the dog who is a lovely natured doggy. Tavistock itself is lovely and you can walk everywhere. We will definitely be going back!
