The wife and I stayed here as we wanted to try the brand for the first time, and were extremely impressed, they don't make hotels like this any more, high ceilings, grand internal displays, it feels like how luxury travelling would've been like in the 1920s, was a perfect base for want we wanted to do it the city and were sad that we have to leave.
Nice room, comfy bed. Good breakfast and if the hotel parking is full you can leave car near at Koskikeskus parking hall. Staff was helpfull and nice and there was enough staff at the reception even it was busy summer weekend. Great location, my favourite hotel in Tampere!
This hotel did many things right: clean, comfortable, truly caring about the environment and a wonderful breakfast. My room faced the inner block and had a nice French balcony with both doors opening. The sheets and blackout curtains kept the daylight out during the Finnish summer. With the balcony closed, the room was virtually soundproof. The bathroom was delightfully designed. While the bathroom was seemingly clean, the shower wall grout was moldy. The bed and bedding was traditional Scandinavian and confortable. I only have two non-positive comments. The heat was set to 23C which is was too warm for me. I asked the front desk for help. I tried their suggestions without results. I slept hot and sweaty my entire trip. The floor seemed a bit gritty, but I am not sure why. Perfectly located near the centrum and the train station. Excellent value and very nice property.
Very good location near train station. Expensive parking. Supermarket, shopping, restaurants are near (tullintori next to/ ratina 10mins walk). Beautiful view from top floor bar. Hotel restaurant pricy. Rooms are neat, good nights sleep. Downstairs features ok small gym and saunas. Breakfast was superb. 👌🏻
Good location, right in the centre of the city. The room was large, with a sauna and a separate bath tub. Also, there are bath tubs, and there are bath tubs. They had proper, good looking, high end bath tubs! The bed was superior, as were the pillows too. Not the basic hotel sleep you get at Sokos and Scandic. The room wa salso beautifully and modernly designed from the floor to the roof. Just beatiful. The only negative thing about the room were the slippers. We really disliked those as they were basically unwearable as they felt like carton. Worst slippers I have ever come across. Breakfast was unique. They had tons of exotic foods that I have never seen at hotel brekafast before. What I was missing was some flavoured youghurt and a toaster and toast. But, cant really complain as there was so much more than at a standard hotel breakfast in Finland. The hotel does not have parking, but there are 2 public parking options super close, just across the road. It cost 23€/night. The staff was always super friendly!
MmarycoonsThe hotel has a great fire and ice theme. And if you've ever watched the TV show Game of Thrones, the piped in music in the halls reminded me of the show. The decor is mostly black and grey, and the hotel is part of an arena that hosts music, sports and other events. Lots of wooden reindeer, candles, antlers and unique lights resembling icicles. The food was so unique – and good – and the décor presentation whether it is birch wood, stone, paper/burlap bag for food, etc. in the hotel restaurant was very original from what I've ever seen before. For example, the bread was served on a wood slice, which is not that unusual, but the butter was on a piece of rock. My only concern was the size of the rooms. They were very small and cramped, but since my husband and I were only there one night it didn't make that much of a difference. But if I was to stay for a few days, not having a desk in the room would have been an issue.
I think this hostel is not comfortable for families with small children. There are no toilets in the rooms. The shared bathroom is shared with the whole hostel, it includes five one-shower cubicles. The upper beds are not safe for small children... Otherwise the place is ok, especially if you are young and don't spend a lot of time in your accommodation. The breakfast was good. The location is excellent. The parking lot is convenient. The overhaul looks good, but unrefined.
Probably not the best Scandic in the city but to be fair they are all pretty much the same nowadays. This one doesn't offer free parking but there is a parking garage just next to it (with extra cost). The room itself was nice and clean, but for some reason there was a small window between the room and the bathroom - in daytime it gives a bit of sunlight to the bathroom, which is nice, but at night it can be a bit irritating if someone goes to the bathroom as the bathroom lights illuminate the whole room! Saunas offer a nice view over the city. In July at least one of the conference rooms was adjusted into a playroom which was great for kids! Pyynikki and the city centre are very close by. Breakfast was average. I would like to see a bigger selection of fruits, better quality juices and some kind of fish...
