Seaview Resort Kaho Lak sits right in the middle of average for resorts. It's got some nice features, the pool is lovely and the beach access is great. Other than that it's just another resort. We got the Deluxe Ocean View room which was nice but didn't have a view of the ocean, just another room in front. Room size was good and it was very clean. Breakfast is average, the staff aren't the most friendly but not unfriendly, the location is ok but not great. If you're planning on spending most of your time at the resort it's absolutely fine. I just can't find anything to recommend as standing out. Wifi is very hit and miss so if you need to work from the Hotel I be prepared for it to be slow at times. The mosquitoes are insane so I'd strongly recommend if you have a ground floor room to bring repellent and spray, you're going to need it. This isn't the hotels fault, the area just has a lot of mosquitoes. If you can get it for a good price then I'd book it. Otherwise there are plenty of other average resorts around.
What makes a relaxing getaway coupled with a successful business is the professional staff at the resort. JW Marriott at Khao Lak has the professional, multilingual staff on board to help make your getaway experience as relaxing and comfortable as possible. From Khun Apple at the front desk during check in or Khun Oum at the check out desk, they provided such excellent, quality service making my family feel appreciated. All the service staff helped play with my 2 year old son, which made me feel like children are also appreciated at this resort. We loved P’Apple who showed us the farm and took the time to explain the company’s plan creating an ecotourism experience for guests. The facilities were immaculate! The rooms are dry and well-built despite the high humidity. The pool is well kept and ver my fun to swim around the property. I know this isn’t a company specific issue, but the amount of trash that washed up on the beach and left there was an eye sore. I wanted to play in the sand and water but the amount of foam, fishing wire, and plastic was so concerning. I get that this is a greater ecosystem issue as opposed to JW’s issue. Lastly, enjoy the sunset on this property. It’s so tranquil.
This was our third time at this hotel, we love it’s position close but not too close to everything and as ever the staff were really lovely and helpful. The breakfast offered everything we could want. Unfortunately this hotel is now in need of a complete refurbishment, the furniture isn’t fit for purpose i.e. no drawers in bedside cabinet, drawers not closing properly and veneer lifting off unit tops. The whole atmosphere is tired, when we arrived the gardens were in desperate need of mowing and hedges trimming, in our three weeks here the grass was mown once and the hedges not done at all, please note this is not a criticism of the gardener as he is on his own and it definitely requires more than one gardener. We have always enjoyed our time at this hotel but it is now in definite need of a revamp, new furniture and new bedding and towels as there were holes in our bedding.
訪訪客We had a very good 4 day break here. We rented a bungalow which was roomy with its own terrace. Good sized double bed, fridge, great shower room and a huge bath. The setting is gorgeous, the other side of the road from a deserted beach - but no sun beds. Water ways and a lake surround it and makes you feel as though you are in the rainforest. Beautiful - if it was cleaned up. Therein lies the problem. The whole place needs a refurbishment and the gardens/grounds need to be a lot tidier. It was probably OK before Covid and I sympathise with them, but for the money it should be a lot better. The breakfast was ok but not worth looking to eat there in the evening. Having said that there are four great restaurants outside within 100 yards. All the staff were wonderful and very helpful - English not their strong point but you can get by OK. It is a long way from Khao Lak so you need a car/bike. The area is well worth spending some time around, especially Takua Pa Old Town. The Tsunami museums are not great but still a must visit. We did enjoy our stay but feel that with a lot more effort the place would be really buzzing again. Would we go back? Possibly - as we loved the area and you could get a great dinner at the Mercure Resort (or the Meridien) if you wanted to push the boat out - as we did for my wife’s birthday on 8th February.
