The K's House Takayama is easy to find and only about a five minute walk from Takayama Station. The staff are very friendly and speak great English. The main common area is very nice, and fully featured. It includes a living area with computers, sofas and a table, a kitchen and a laundry. The room, a standard twin, was very good. It included a bunk bed and a small bathroom with flush toilet, sink and combined bath and shower. Beds were very comfortable, and the shower was consistent in strength and temperature. However, the room has very little room to store luggage. Otherwise, the room is great. The hostel is in a great location; about walking distance to all major attractions. The hostel has free WiFi available in all areas, including the rooms. So I would definitely recommend this hostel, not only because of it's great location but also because of its amenities. Also, we happened to be there on one of the nights where the staff offered free dinner. It was a great experience where we could enjoy traditional Japanese food and drink, as well as chat with the other guests staying. So definitely check (I don't know how, maybe website?) to see if there are any special events that occur during your stay.

The hostel is near the train and bus station and has private rooms and dormitories. There's a communal kitchen and lounge and if you stay for three or more nights you may use the washing machine for free. The staff is lovely and very helpful. My private room was very clean and spacious. Apart from the bed there was only a shelf, a small table and a chair would have been nice.
