We stayed in the new apartment part of the resort. The room was nice - spacious and modern. Wasn't really a fan of having the TV at the head of the bed, as you could hear it in bed even with the volume down low. The AC vent is also directed at the head of the bed as well. We were on the main floor, so we were a bit concerned with privacy. There is privacy glass installed, but if you look really closely, you can still see a bit inside during the day; not sure if this is worse at night. We just kept the blinds closed the whole time. We had issues connecting to our wifi in the room. We also had problems with getting hot water. The resort staff was helpful and sent someone in to have a look right away, although we were never able to get any hot water ourselves. We had a cockroach problem in our room, found a couple our first night in the kitchen. The staff were good at addressing this and came by to spray the kitchen down the next morning. This worsened the problem as we came across many more that night in the kitchen and bathroom. The last straw was when I saw a cockroach on my daughter's toothbrush. We were then moved to the penthouse in the main part of the resort. I found the penthouse incredibly dated, and in need of repair (hardness on the tub drain prevented us from being able to drain the tub, shower base leaks, windows cracked) It is an incredibly large space, but the upstairs is wasted because there is no fan or air conditioning up there so it ends up being a sauna up there. The space is probably so under utilized which would explain the magazines from 2015 that I found up there. I think they should put air conditioning up there and perhaps convert some of that space in to more bedrooms. You also lose some of the amenities the apartment had in the penthouse such as the washing machine and dishwasher. The bed is comfortable, the shower isn't as nice as in the apartment, but at least we got hot water. Wifi signal much better than in the apartment. We only saw a couple of cockroaches in the penthouse, but we did end up having a mouse in the place too. Once again, resort staff were quick to respond. Not sure if they caught the mouse or not, but I did notice that they taped up the bottom of the doors. We had breakfast included. There isn't much variety on the menu, and I was hoping for more fruit and fresh juices. Room service is free, so that's a nice perk. There is a gym on site, I didn't go in so I can't comment on how equipped it is. There are 2 pools - one in the main resort and one at the apartment side. Not shallow enough for kids to play in though. The pools are both frequently cleaned by staff. The shoreline is not as picturesque as I was hoping, and you need water shoes, but there is lots of fish in the water and the water is fairly shallow. The coral is not very nice here. Some mosquitos, but not as bad as I thought. Avoid sitting outside at night and use mosquito repellent if sitting in the

Had the most amazing week long stay at Maui Palms with my girlfriend and can’t wait to come back again. We stayed in the new “Lux Apartments” with an ocean front view… the apartments were well equipped and more than comfortable however the view was to die for! The new infinity pool facility was amazing and the surrounds extremely relaxing. A short walk to the local coffee shop, supermarket, restaurant and bottle shop make this an ideal location to stay if you’re after a quiet boutique couples getaway with some home comforts nearby. The resort staff were kind, courteous and attentive as only Fijians are… Neel managing all of our activities bookings and Adi providing a lot caring customer service with a sense of humour at the front end… thank you to the restaurant kitchen staff for the preparation of delicious fresh meals during our stay. Special thanks to our host Wayne for our amazing stay at your resort… see you on our next visit without a doubt!

My partner and I had the pleasure in staying at Maui Palms recently and could not have asked for better accommodation. Wayne and his staff looked after us so well and were extremely friendly. Neel arranged all our activities and was very efficient in doing so and Adi and Liti arranged most of our meals and were absolute delights. Everyone was just lovely! The accommodation itself was very modern with everything we could need and the view was breathtaking! Highly recommended and we look forward to returning sometime in the future.

My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to Fiji and one of the stops was an 8 day stay at Maui Palms. I feel a bit bad about a 4 star review, as it really was 4.5 stars but now quite a 5. A very, very good stay and very glad we spent time at Maui Palms. There was a bit of a booking snafu so we were not able to get in the apartment our first night, but they gave us a very nice villa for the night and a resort credit for the mix-up which was a very satisfactory resolution to the booking issue. Our apartment was very good with an amazing view (see picture), but we did not get hot water to the shower consistently (although the tub had plenty of hot water), and there was some water seepage in the bathroom floor area of our apartment during a very rainy night, but overall the room was very good. Some minor maintenance issues that just need some attention. The staff were spot-on and always greeted us with a big BULA and went out of their way to make sure our stay was good. Staff member Felix was most awesome spending time with us on the beach identifying the different sea creatures, and he did a great job preparing the lovo for the Fijian night. We had breakfast included in our rate and the Restaurant put out good meals breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sea kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling equipment were complimentary. We didn't get a chance but you can have Felix give you a walking tour of the reef at low tide. Snorkeling is best a couple hours on each side of high tide. They also coordinated a tour for us for rafting at the Upper Navua river which was most spectacular - highly recommended! We rented a car from Nadi which was helpful as there was not a lot walkable from the resort besides 1 small restaurant and a very small grocery. Stop in the supermarket at Sigatoka if you are looking to stock your apartment kitchen upon arrival. The front desk can arrange taxis and tours if you want to get off the resort some. There is not a lot of car parking but most guests don't rent a car so parking was never a problem for us. Overall a stellar stay and you will not be disappointed if you choose Maui Palms.

We recently spent a week at Maui Palms with our three teenage/young adult sons and had the most incredible experience! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and then when we had a tour of the grounds we knew we were somewhere very special. Our interconnecting rooms were immaculately clean with beautiful toiletries and full laundry facilities and the view from the room overlooking the reef and ocean is one we will never forget. Highly recommend the meal plan- the food is exceptional and the boys were never hungry! The seafood platter on our last night had the biggest lobster we had ever seen! Huge shout out to Andi and Neel who organised everything for us whenever we needed anything and to Felix who spent so much time with us on various adventures, some of our best memories. Thank you Maui Palms for the best holiday ever!

Group of 17 family members went for my husband's 71st birthday. We had four 2-bedroom apartments. Wayne and his staff were top-notch, flexible, catered to our needs, even arranged an excursion to a local village/waterfall and arranged for a special birthday dinner and entertainment. We took the full board option, and both the hotel and food were an excellent value for the money. Everyone was so nice, remembered us by name, and were very patient with us! We participated in the reef walk, snorkeling, swimming, massages on the beach, lovo dinner, and kava ceremony. Everyone in the family enjoyed it greatly! Special shoutouts to Felix, Andi, and Liti for going above and beyond! We will be back!

We arrived a day late, and at 11;30 PM, due to Cyclone Mal and Fiji Airways stranding us on Taveuni. Luckily, we had phoned ahead, and "Wayne" was there to let us into our room. The place was totally dead looking, and dark, and we thought we were going to have to sleep on the steps! We were not impressed with the "resort" overall. It has no real Fijian charm, and the rooms are all jammed together on much too small a property, in my opinion. Our "Garden view" room, was on the second floor above the lobby, with a view of the stamped concrete front driveway. The shower in the room was so small, I could not bend over to wash my feet without bumping the door open. There was no light switch for the washroom, it was out in the entrance hall, and even though they provided a hair dryer in the washroom, there was no a/c outlet in the washroom. On the positive side, the room was quiet, had great A/C, a really nice bed(although you needed a step stool to get in and out),and a small fridge. Wi-Fi worked great. The local area has a newish grocery store, gas station, and restaurant complex across the road, so that saved us from having to eat at their restaurant, which requested we put in our dinner order by 3 p.m. Not impressed! The reef out front was suitable for snorkelling, but not great, and the beach was not very good, as it was really rocky. The pool was nice, but we always felt like we were disturbing the privacy of the honeymoon suites, again, everything so jammed together! I regret I can not recommend this property to anyone visiting Fiji.I booked it based on their good reviews by other travellers. Now I am wondering about those "other" travellers.

We are a little perplexed by the consistent 5-star reviews for Maui Palms, for the following reasons. This is a quiet resort if that's what you're looking for. But our family found the vibe totally flat and virtually non-existent. On arrival, we waited in a reception area, no guest welcome from staff, nothing. This is in contrast to other resorts where you're welcomed with songs, clapping, and guitar. Tina, one of the lovely staff members brought us a glass of water (a juice would have been nice after nearly a 2-hour car ride) until Neel ran us through some information. The location is nice only if (and that's a big IF) the weather is good. If the weather is bad you are pretty much stuck in your room. The only indoor common area (the bar and dining room) has zero atmosphere and nobody in it most of the time, so it's not even like you can go hang out at the bar and chat with other guests. We have experienced bad weather at other resorts but there are always still things going on to keep you occupied. Not here. Here, you may as well have a drink on your own in the room. We experienced extremely high winds while we were there which is part and parcel of Fiji, however, at this resort, there is no escaping it. The two pools are both located right in front by the beach. Nearby resorts like the Warwick and Hideway have their common areas/pools situated to be sheltered to minimise getting impacted by the high winds. There is a small gym onsite which we used regularly, so that was a plus. We stayed in the new apartment building ground floor which was spacious and comfortable, however, the hot water took ages, or didn't come through at all. Sometimes I gave up and had a cold shower! For such a new building, many maintenance issues are already evident. One night of heavy rain, our bathroom floor got so wet from water dripping through the light fitting. The really good thing about the apartment was the use of a washer/dryer. Oh, and resident cockroaches which one of the staff told us were common on the ground floor apartment. This should be an easy fix with pest control spray. As for the tennis court, my teenage sons asked for rackets and were told there are "rules", and that you have to have an exceptional level of ability to use the court and wear correct tennis shoes. This was a real sticking point for us, (and two other families we spoke were unhappy about this as well). You can't even have a friendly hit with the kids... really???? The ONLY person we saw using the court several times was Wayne (the owner) with his buddies who were NOT guests. It is obvious that the court is there for Wayne's personal use only. I am surprised this is not mentioned in any of the reviews. The upsides are the food is good and the staff is lovely, especially Tina, Emma, Tiger and Felix.

My husband & I moved to Australia 18 months ago and have been seeking our dream holiday destination (to rival our favourite in Europe). I can say that Maui Palms exceeded all expectation. Location is exceptional. Right on the beach at Maui Bay on the Coral Coast. Incredible snorkelling and swimming. That is fine but what makes Maui Palms better than anywhere else we have stayed is the following: Beautifully designed accommodation with a choice of either a romantic bure or a new apartment. We chose the apartment so we could cater for ourselves at times but an inclusive food package is available. 2 swimming pools - the one at the apartments is simply stunning! The resort is unique and boutique - enough people if you want to make acquaintances but privacy if you value peace, quiet and relaxation. The best thing however about Maui Palms is the staff. The owner is incredibly considerate of his guests, the environment AND his staff. They in turn are loyal and simply the most welcoming, generous, happy people you could care to meet. The time they gave to take me on a reef walk and snorkel tour and the knowledge imparted was incredible. The Lovo meal for a group of us guests was delightful (and delicious). You felt nothing was too much trouble and everything provided with a smile.
