YHA swanage was a lovely location with good parking and a period building lovely views from our room of Swanage bay and cliffs. Staff were helpful and friendly. Suprisingly the rooms were very warm even though the radiators were off. Facilities were more than adequate. It was a bargin staying only for one night in a private room with ensuite 2 adults and 2 children and breakfast for 4 people for under £90

YHA Swanage was the perfect base for our U13's Rugby Tour. We were a group of 59 and the various YHA teams we dealt with made the booking process so easy. When we arrived in Swanage the hostel was spotlessly clean and well appointed, At all times the staff were friendly and really helpful.

Having stayed here recently, I was considering staying again till I learnt YHA plans to cut down half the trees on their land, despite tree preservation orders to protect them. The trees are not causing any harm or damage and are healthy. There is absolutely no excuse for cutting down healthy protected trees, especially in the current ecological climate we're in. We need to be safeguarding trees and the vital habitats they provide, not destroying them. It is in such a beautiful location, the walk into town and to the sea is ideal. I won't be recommend to anyone unless YHA sees sense and stops the plans to fell the beautiful trees.

Such a shame Swanage YHA has decided to cut down 35 healthy trees despite them being under a Tree Preservation Order and including rarer Elm trees for 'aesthetic reasons'. Will not be recommending this establishment in the future! I really can't see the sense of this!!!

I had planned to book to stay here whilst visiting some friends, however I've just found out that they plan to fell mature trees around the building which are under a preservation order, purely for aesthetic reasons, so there's no way I'm booking now! They clearly have no respect or care for nature and I don't feel comfortable giving money to businesses with those values.

Terrific YHA - lovely old building with wood panelled lounge, great facilities and modern kitchen. Our room had an amazing sea view! Right in the centre of town with all its amenities and close to beautiful Dorset countryside. We had never visited the area before and had some great day out. We walked the Purbeck way to Corfe caste and caught the steam train. It's a short coastal walk to Old Harry Rocks and a little longer along the stunning sandy beaches to Sandbanks.
