Surely one of the best Kempinski hotels. We've been visiting this one for some 10 years. Many top hotels fade or rest on their laurels: not this one! Service superb, location stunning, spa wonderful and absolute attention to detail everywhere. Its architecture and build quality mean that it will stand the test of time - aging with character and grandeur. Very few English visit - crazy really as it is a 2 hour flight to Poprad Tatry from Luton, a 2 min taxi to the train station and then a wonderful electric carriage takes you to the top at Strbske Pleso - for the princely sum of 2 euros. Beats any 5 star hotel in England, especially when you consider its value for money. Enough from me; we'll be back for sure.

Me and my daughter stoped only for a coffee and some snack in their lobby bar. The amenities are lovely, atmosphere nice, lobby bar is cozy and welcoming. The coffee and hot milk chocolate we ordered were very good. BUT. The service was incredibly SLOW! We were siting at the bar 15 min when finally somebody noticed we were there and brought the drink- menu. Then we waited another 10 min when finally another waiter came to take our order. Yes (!) and it took another 15 min when he finally brought my coffee and another 5 min to bring a hot chocolate for my daughter. Yes - they brought it separately! Would you believe this in a hotel like this where you pay for macciato 6 Eur? Then I decided that I wanted to order some snack. Took another 10 min while they brought me the menu list. The lobby bar was not even half full. Should I continue? I don’ t think so. The waiters were nice and polite, excused for slow service and then speeded -up, but still…. This was not 5- star experience.

A very nice 5 star hotel which is quite old but very well maintained. It seems that it was recently renovated. It has old architecture and emanates a romantic air. The rooms are quite big and spacious and the bathrooms as well. The bathroom have both bathtub and shower cabin, so you can make your washing choice. One of the very nice features that the rooms have is a big dressing right on the entrance hallway. If you plan to bring big cruise ship trunks with you full of clothes, then you can rest assured that you will have plenty of space for them. All the rooms have large terraces and fir with outside furniture. Each room has also a day sitting area, which is somehow detached the sleeping section of the room. The room tariff is quite high, so if your pockets are deep, then you are most welcome to visit. A very large restaurant on the 1st floor and also a very decent breakfast is served every morning. All in all, a very pleasant experience in the High Tatras.

The location of this hotel is spectacular. We stayed in a junior suite in the original part of the house that was built here and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Rain, sun and fog couldn’t stop us from seeing the stunning scenery. We also took advantage of the spa and had massages which we welcomed after hiking earlier in the day. The bar had entertainment and delicious teas, the dining room provided a vast menu and the accommodations are comfortable. The front desk was so welcoming and helpful when we needed it. We will do what we can to go back to the High Tatar’s and stay at the Kempinski.
