諾欽南旅館(Knockinaam Lodge)

Booked for a special birthday lunch today and it was a delightful experience. The food was superb and not hurried in any way, location is stunning and we were treated so well by everyone there today. To all the moaners and complainers on this site I bet that you are not as well fed at home! It is quite clear that it is a set menu and we were given 3 opportunities to advise if we had any dietary requirements. If you don’t take up that opportunity you cannot blame the hotel staff if you do not like what you get. Thank you to all the staff today who made it such a lovely birthday for us.

This was our second visit to Knockinaam Lodge; we stayed for three nights leading up to New Year. We arrived with high expectations given our previous fabolous experience and our expectations were exceeded. To say the customer experience was fabolous would be understating it. Your not treated as customers but welcomed as guests and made to feel at home from the moment you arrive. Dining is an adventure. Its like going to the theatre where each act is a course full of creativity, flavour and the finest produce. Each and every one of the team are a delight and go out of there way to make you feel at home. We enjoyed every moment and look forward to returning.

My booking at Knockinaam Lodge came about due to a last minute cancellation and I was delighted that I took up the opportunity to revisit this wonderful hideaway beside the Irish sea. An old diary tells me that I first stayed ay Knockinaam in April 1979 but the current version is vastly superior! My room-Bachelor- was one that I was already familiar with and the housekeeping team had it as fastidiously perfect as ever. The food....much has been said of Tony Pierce's sublime cuisine and after 29 years at the Stove he is better than ever!Not one morsel of my three breakfasts and dinners was other than totally delicious and the planning and execution of meals of that calibre takes more than a little effort.From the butter on the table by way of deliciously homemade rolls and then through each well balanced course of the tasting menu the professionalism and love of cooking shines through. Everything in the dining room is pitch perfect...crisp immaculate napery,impeccably polished glasses and attentive,friendly service by well trained and capable young people. The wine list is a work of great dedication and contains many delights. If you need a relaxing break and would like to be gently cossetted while enjoying food that is superior to many Michelin starred establishments then Knockinaam Lodge is for you.

What an incredible 2 night stay we had in the Churchill Suite. Impeccable hospitality and the highlight, of course, was Chef Tony and team’s 5 course dinner. Truly Michelin-star worthy. Every member of the service team was friendly and professional. The Chef chatted with guests in the evenings and made us feel so welcome. He happened to be outside when my husband and I were departing and while he could have just gone inside to go about his busy day he made the effort to run up to say goodbye to us. Truly above and beyond. Thanks to the entire team for a unique and unparalleled experience. I’ve already booked a return in April.

This was our third visit and our second this year.This time we stayed in Pond, the bedroom had just been refurbished with a new bathroom added which certainly had the wow factor. Large walk-in in shower with a large free standing bath with a separate dressing area and underfloor heating. The staff were as always very attentive with nothing too much trouble. The food is exceptional with the tasting menu changing completely each of our five nights. Any dislikes were quickly rectified with and appropriate replacement, Looking forward to our next visit.

The hotel is lovely and in a beautiful location, staff generally very friendly and the food is really excellent. Our two night stay was a wedding gift from a friend, and he had arranged for payment to be made when we checked out, he had paid a deposit; we would be paying for any drinks and Afternoon Tea ourselves. When checking out we were presented with an invoice for the total amount. On querying this I was told that payment for the room and meals hadn't been received. No effort was made by the member of staff to help resolve this, and it was left to us to contact our friend to establish what he had arranged. This was embarrassing. I was eventually able to inform the member of staff what the payment arrangements were, information he should already have had. He may have actually checked himself by then, however there was no explanation or apology. The invoice I did expect was produced and was paid. I sent an email the following day, mainly to suggest that there should be an apology for our friend, but there was no reply. The same email was then sent from a different email addres, but there was still no reply. This is a great shame because it casts a shadow over our visit, and very much lets the other members of the Knockinaam team down. Would I recommend this hotel? I did think that I still would, but beware of any potential payment anomalies. But on reflection; let's face it, there are plenty of other hotels in Scotland.

We stayed in the Churchill Room which was very comfortable. The food was fantastic with a great choice of wines. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel.

Gut, dass man sich heute auf die Navigationsgeräte verlassen kann. Anderfalls würde man sicher verzweifeln, bis man die Lodge "in der Nähe" von Portpatrick erreicht. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt das Gebäude eher unspektakulär, dafür entschädigen aber das Ambiente im Inneren und der Service. Hier scheint die Zeit in den dreißiger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts stehen geblieben zu sein. Gäste werden hier noch als Gäste und nicht als nur zahlende Kunden behandelt. Der ans Bett servierte Early-Morning-Tea, der sonst fast überall ausgestorben ist, mag hierfür als Beispiel dienen. Jeden Abend wird ein festes (Überraschungs-)Menü serviert, das die wenig gerühmte schottische Küche in einem ganz anderen Licht erscheinen lässt. Wir haben sowohl die Auswahl der Speisen als auch die Zubereitung jewels sehr genossen.

First visit, wonderful hotel and location. Would not hesitate to return.
