This was our first time to Split. Our rooms at Wind Rose were very nicely decorated, immaculate, very comfy beds and a good shower. The location was up a side street, only a short distance from the waterfront and city. Duje was there to meet us and was very welcoming. As it was a Sunday the supermarket had closed so only wish we'd had more than 2 coffee drinks (I know typical brits!!) We did ask for any recommendations for local restaurants to go to and wasn't disappointed when we went to Kod Jose. Fab restaurant and food. There was a fab bakery a few minutes down the street for lovely pastries and a supermarket where you could get most things. There was a fridge in the room to keep the drinks chilled. I only wish we had booked the room with a balcony as we missed having an outside area to sit in. We loved Split walking along the waterfront, the lovely old town with cobbled streets so many restaurants and bars to choose from. There was so much to see Diocletians palace, bell tower, cathedral, the massive Gregory of Nin statue. There was always a fab atmosphere on the evening at the Palace square where musicians and singers played and people sat and enjoyed a drink or just listening to the music. There were male opera singers doing short performances in the grounds, absolutely fantastic setting and voices!! We did Krka waterfall trip well worth it. We didn't have lots of time here so will need to return and explore the surrounding area more and visit the nearby islands.
