For your information, Snowshoe Resort is an "upside-down ski resort" with the lodging on top and lifts beginning from the mountaintop (elevation of 4848' with 251 acres of ski-able terrain). Snowshoe was once described as "an island in the sky." When you watch the morning fog settling at the base of the mountains, you will understand what it had this description.
