A unique beach front experience in Anacortes, Washington awaits you!Located on the shores of Similk Bay outside Anacortes, this home offers the perfect quiet getaway for up to five guests. There’s nothing better in this life than spending time in the early morning hours watching the bay come alive from the sun room in this home. There is beach access from the property and also within a very short walking distance.Guest accessUse of the entire home is yours for the duration of your stay. The house is on one story with easy access and two separate bedrooms. We’ve supplied the home with high speed WIFI, two televisions with streaming options, and a well equipped kitchen with all the essentials.Other things to noteSEPTIC - please remember that the systems along this stretch of beach are all individually designed and aren’t built to service large crowds of people over long stretches of time. In particular, please don’t put anything into the system that isn’t toilet paper. This includes napkins, wipes, paper towels, and feminine hygiene products. The last thing any of us want during your stay is an malfunctioning septic system!WASHER AND DRYER – we offer the use of the washer and dryer by our guests. Please limit use of these appliances to one load per day. Once again this comes down to overuse of the washer in particular being a potential source of stress on our septic system.BEACH ACCESS AND HIGH BANK – please be careful! In particular the bank in the front yard is steep. In the 68 years our family has been in possession of the property no one has ever tumbled over the bank, but you never know. Especially with little children this is always a concern. If you want to access the beach be aware that once you get down to the bottom of the stairs off the concrete bulkhead there’s not much of a landing area. We attempt to keep the driftwood clear but it is constantly changing configuration. Those with limited mobility wishing to access the beach should do so at the public entrance at the end of the meadow down the street.ARTWORK – throughout the house you will see framed watercolors. All of these are original artwork done by the host and are offered for sale. Your host is a long-standing collected artist who has pieces in private collections all over the world. If you are interested in purchasing please let the us know.TELEVISION – both TVs are “Roku” devices which support virtually all of the major streaming services. Please be advised that we don’t provide subscriptions for our guests to use. If a particular service is already logged in, feel free to use it. Otherwise you will have to log in using your own account.KITCHEN – we try to make sure that whatever is in the refrigerator (condiments, drinks etc) is current. Please feel free to consume whatever is on hand. It is also okay to leave extras behind. We especially appreciate any unopened bottles of wine, beer and/or hard seltzer that you can’t find room for in your vehicle. Any open bottles of hard liquor are also greatly appreciated.LINENS – we put bath towels, hand towels and washcloths out for the number of guests we are expecting. Sheets and pillowcases on all the beds are fresh.THANKS FOR COMING TO STAY! This property has been in our family since 1955. The host grew up in this neighborhood and went to the local schools here. The Skagit River connects the majestic cascade mountains to fertile farm fields and the Salish Sea...and it runs along the back side of the property!Our 3600sq. ft. home is carefully designed with guests in mind. Large enough for everyone to be comfortable, while maintaining the cozy feel of a home away from home. If a quiet riverside retreat is what you’re after, a hop and skip over the levee to our private riverside meadow will fill your heart with joy. A walk along the river with coffee or tea in hand is the perfect beginning or end to any day, as the trail atop the levee winds its way along the river past picturesque farm fields with the cascade mountains as a backdrop all the way to downtown Mount Vernon. Forest- If the mountains call, you’re about halfway from Seattle to Mt. Baker, and just 2 minutes from the North cascades highway, the gateway to the American Alps. The Skagit River Farmhouse makes a perfect home base for weeks worth of breathtaking day hikes or skii/snowboarding trips followed by an evening soak in the hot tub under the stars, and a great night's sleep in our comfy new beds and linens. FIELD -The farmhouse is located in the heart of the Skagit River Valley, home to some of the most beautiful and fertile fields in the Pacific Northwest. You can visit daffodil and tulip fields in spring, many family owned vegetable, berry, or flower farms in the summer months, pumpkin patches and cideries in Autumn, and the world renown fields full of snow geese and trumpeter swans in winter. SEA - In addition to floating the river (there is a put-in a few miles north of the farmhouse), the house is also just 20 minutes from Anacortes, the small seaside town from which you can catch a ferry to the stunning San Juan islands or a whale watching charter if you're so inclined. If beach walks are what you’re after, explore all 7 of the state parks bordered by the Salish sea, home to orcas, sea birds, pacific salmon, and abundant sea life, all within 10-40 minutes of the house.
