We were stopping in on an overnighter before heading on. The hotel reception area and staff were very helpful but from there, we rapidly came across the areas for improvement. Firstly, there's no lifts which was fine for us but could be an issue for others. The room was nice enough and everything worked ok but when we went to find the restaurant/bar, we found it is more like a breakfast room, with no one there. Reception found the "waiter" (who was also the porter IIRC) and the meal was nice enough but it was served in a small seated area with as much atmosphere as a train station waiting room. Anyway, we then went to find the bar only to discover there doesn't seem to be one. There's a closed ballroom, a closed dive centre, a blacked out "club", a fancy table for seaside dining, but no sign of a bar, so it was back to the "waiting room" to find the one chap who seems to do everything, then sit by the pool with a drink. The railings besides the pool area threatened to collapse when leant upon and in daylight, the pool looked far less appealing than by night and needed some TLC. That sums the place up really - it could be a lovely little hotel with a little TLC and some investment. Instead, it looks tired and the feeling we got was that it was effectively closed or about to close, and no one was trying to take anything further. The staff did what they could but there was only 3-4 of them as far as we could see (about the same as the number of guests). Such a pity.
