The mattress was an item of torture with broken and weak springs. The room had a discarded bottle on the floor, dead flies on the window sill and most of the time the television would not work. The bathroom had severe need of corners cleaning. The towels and bedding were fine and tea/coffee facilities were very good. Not quite a complete disaster but I won't be back.

The property is very old (16th century)and full of character. Each and every member of staff that we met during our 2 day stay were very friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food was great.

Assistant Manager I didn’t catch her name but the young lady who is assistant manager… what a job she does! She looked after reception, was the main waitress, also serving behind the bar. And no one was left waiting whatsoever and all on a night that the hotel was fully booked. Tremendous job!

Nice hotel. Cheap and cheerful. WiFi was naff and no air con but lovely staff.

The room was clean and warm, the decor did not compliment the age and character of the property, booked for two nights and went down for breakfast in the second day and could not find any staff and the breakfast room was looked so had to go to Diss for breakfast !!!

Apparently it was good enough for Charles II An ideal base geographically for chosen sight seeing locations along with meeting up with friends. Disappointed that the room was not within the original 17 century building with so much character. I was allocated a ground floor room in a relatively new block at the rear of the property. The room did not really have any wow factor and I got the feeling that these are the rooms provided to workmen during the week. The pop up plug in the sink was missing and the bath plug did'nt fit. There was a hot iron mark on the carpet. Returning from a day out on the second day the door to the room was found wide open. This was addressed with the receptionist who apologized on behalf of the management (whom I never saw), fortunately nothing appeared to be missing. The bar service was good and the staff in general were very friendly. The hot food served was adequate.
