Definitely the best place you can stay within the old san juan.

We had wanted to stay at this boutique hotel in the heart of old San Juan since we first saw it about 6 years ago on a prior trip. It looks beautiful from the outside, and is beautiful on the inside. We did have issues: First, we arrived on a Saturday evening. There was a wedding reception and no available parking. They explained the parking is not their's and that all guests have to find parking on their own. This should be highlighted. Second, there were no bellhops. I had to carry all our stuff in myself like it was at a motor lodge. Related to this was that about 30 people from the wedding reception were blocking the entrance and blowing cigar and cigarette smoke. Third, the front desk was across the hall from the wedding reception. The music was so loud I had to write notes with staff to check in. Fourth, there was no running water in our room. A call to the front desk found they were working on it but no estimate for repair time. That would have been something nice to know while I was checking in. Fortunately, it did come back on in about 30 minutes. Fifth, the wedding reception music could easily and loudly be heard in my 5th floor room until about 2AM, leaving us with little to no sleep on our first night. Also, the room decor being contemporary and modern, did not match the romantic and colonial look of the rest of the hotel. Things did get better, but that first night we were seriously thinking of leaving and going elsewhere.

We arrived before check-in time and the hotel took out luggage and my phone number to call me when the room was ready. They called and when we checked in they gave us the wrong rooms keys, which was quickly sorted by the bellman. The bellhop service was very good, btw. The room was clean, but there were several little ******* with the room. The front door was sticky, very sticky, so much so, I had to put my weight into it to get it to open. The a/c was pretty noisy. The bathroom had something I've never encountered, it didn't really have cold water, just warm or hot. The light in the small bathroom was dimmable and flickered quite a bit, pretty annoying. The bathroom door is frosted glass, so if someone's in the bathroom the light comes into the bedroom. Bed is small and not particularly comfortable. Had a little trouble with getting the cleaning staff to make up our room, even though I tipped generously. Now, the good news. The location is excellent with bars, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The hotel is very nice in the common areas with a couple of good bars/restaurants on site. The afternoon wine and cheese mixer is a very nice touch. All-in-all, we got mixed signals, the hotel is nice, the room was mediocre and some of the service staff like their jobs and some don't.

It is a beautiful property. The rooms are not up to the level of the price charged. Shower leaks horribly. Service can be extremely slow, but everyone is very nice. We left some things we purchased behind in the room, but could never get any response afterward either calling or emailing the hotel.

I grew up on the island visiting old San Juan and always dreaming of staying at the hotel someday. It was awesome. The people were amazing, very friendly, and welcoming from the front desk to any employee you would see in the common areas. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment to me was the rooms did not look like the pictures. Not in a bad way, I was just expecting some of the old-world charm in the rooms. But everything was beautiful and clean.

We would definitely stay here again. The property is beautiful. The parking across the street was convenient although it is not connected to the property. The parking in the lot would receive a low rating because even though the lot is 24 hours the attendant was found sleeping in customer's car when we went to retrieve at 5am. The car was literally 5ft away from us and the attendant made us wait 30 mins because we didn't know he was in the Tesla.

We liked this property quite a lot. Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. Only issue was the noise from the repairing in the restaurant and bar area. Management probably should have disclosed this to the public. Area was charming!

Location is the best asset for this property you can walk everywhere in viejo San Juan. Rooms here are very small with an extra small bathroom I got the deluxe queen but to me it was a full size bed, they said its european size. Food and drinks were ok but many places to go eat and drink near hotel.
