The reason I gave a unsatisfied rating has nothing to do with the property itself. The facility is beautiful with spectacular ocean views, we loved our room and how well kept housekeeping kept our room. We stayed a total of 5 nights at the property.
The reason for my rating is due to unfriendlinesses and treatment of the staff. I am Mexican, and speak clear Spanish; we noticed the difference in treatment as a minority staying in a high-end hotel. We were rarely greeted at the Nidito restaurant when passing by, or at the side pool. I had an encounter where a staff member asked me a very personal question, to my take. “Why do you wear a mask, if COVID is not a thing anymore” I was relaxing poolside and had this question asked by a staff member. I took it very personal as I have a skin condition and excessive sun exposure affects my skin; this question I saw as a bit intrusive on his part. I do not wish to give names. My recommendation if you are a minority looking to stay at a facility like Viceroy in San Jose Del Cabo please ensure you do your research, read reviews and expect an indifferent customer service treatment. Again, my stay was memorable as the facility is beautiful, members of housekeeping are excellent, they keep your room nice and tidy, unfortunately, I did not personally did not meet our housekeeper to thank them for their great service. Our stay had a lot of beautiful moments as this was our first visit, we will return but to a different hotel!
