Nestled in the Douro valley, Six Senses sprawls over 17 beautiful acres of hills and gardens. Linda and I aren’t “spa” people, but we opted to stay here as it was recommended to us by friends who are. The staff and service is amazing. Five star plus, plus! The room overlooking the vineyards was large and gorgeously decorated. We stayed two nights while we visited several Douro Valley wineries. The first evening we dined in the Wine Library. The second night we dined in the Vale Abraao restaurant. Both were on property and were delicious. We enjoyed both places immensely. The breakfast spread and special order items were the best we’ve ever experienced. The only thing that topped the breakfast was the service. The ladies who took care of us were extremely sweet and very accommodating. The spa facilities, gyms and equipment, and pool were amazing, even for us non-spa people. Very expensive, but if you’re looking to be pampered and blown away by the service, the facilities, and the beauty of the Douro area, this is the place for you!

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! What a treat to stay at this amazing hotel - everything was perfect, it obviously comes at a cost, but I had to be dragged out of here! Best bed, staff, views, vibe, food, amenities - we loved every minute.

My husband and I booked a trip here and were so excited. We had great communication with the concierge and had dinner reservations and messages set up at the hotel. However, we had a medical emergency that would not allow us to travel so I emailed them 8 hours after the "cancellation period" asking for a medical exception. I provided a medical letter. Then the hotel did not respond to my emails. When I was trying to book more things on property and spend more money they responded immediately, but when I had an issue they refused to respond. I ended up getting in contact with them through a third party and with the medical letter they still refused to refund my $5300 trip (8 hours outside the cancellation policy). As a business owner myself this is such poor customer service and is somewhat heartless.

MAGICAL!!!!! Get there as early as you can on day you arrive and leave as late as you can on day you depart !!! The most beautiful sumptuous breakfast will leave you full all day !! Check the schedule for different free and charged activities from pickle making to wine tasting to electric bikes and boat rides. Spa is amazing. Indoor pool almost as nice as outdoor pool. We didn’t want to leave! Pricey but worth it !

Marvellous hotel. Luxurious/ relaxed. Located in a marvellous area, surrounded by vineyards and the River Douro as a backdrop. The staff are fantastically friendly and professional, the decor is beautiful, everything has been thought out in detail. The rooms are fantastic, luxurious and very cosy. The food is excellent, with plenty of choice. Finally, I couldn't go without mentioning the swimming pool. Very well framed by the surrounding vineyards and the Douro river as a backdrop. A place to return to again and again...

Sítio paradisíaco Tudo no hotel surpreende desde a chegada. O Six Senses Douro Valley é uma experiência absolutamente inacreditável. Desde o momento inicial até ao final. Tivemos o acompanhamento de um elemento do staff (o Rui) desde o momento em que fizemos o check in, fez questão de mostrar o espaço, com imensa elegância pormenor e personalização, sem nunca se tornar excessivo ou entediante. O todo o restante staff é extremamente atenciosos, o lugar é lindo, o quarto muito confortável e com uma vista de tirar o fôlego. Os espaços de bem estar são muito agradáveis e cuidados, tivemos oportunidade de fazer uma massagem de casal, muito bem conseguida. O jantar não é um estrela Michelin, mas é como se fosse: os ingredientes são diferenciados, o atendimento mantém a linha de todo o espaço: excepcional. Gostámos muito também do trabalho do sommelier. O pequeno almoço mantém as características referidas anteriormente, diferenciação dos produtos e muita variedade (inclusive à carta) Por fim, trouxemos o nosso animal de estimação (algo que fazemos recorrentemente para hotéis deste enquadramento) e o mesmo foi tratado como um príncipe, com imenso carinho e presentes ao longo da estadia (foi definitivamente a melhor experiência que já tivemos a este nível, ficámos inclusive emocionados com todas as iniciativas que levaram a cabo neste sentido) A decoração do hotel tem imenso bom gosto e personalizada à estação do ano. A limpeza, qualidade e manutenção dos equipamentos e espaços é muito acima da média. O espaço exterior é lindíssimo e não era minimamente perceptível a dimensão e beleza através das fotos que observámos anteriormente (é muito mais bonito e muito maior que a nossa expectativa) Um hotel marcante, inigualável e obrigatório em Portugal. Uma sensação de que estava em algo muito familiar , calmo , relaxamento , paz e tranquilidade. Vale muito a pena conhecer o Six senses, lugar incrível e que voltaríamos com certeza absoluta!
