No lift, so it is tough if your room is not at ground level. And no air-conditioning, it is quite warm in August.

Very frustrating. Our 3rd year staying here, but on this occasion had to complain about noise from Another room. I was promised they would sort, but it happened again the next night. No apology or explanation

Why do I always have dramas here? Nobody on reception when I checked in, having dropped my bags in my room, realised it was hotter than the sun, back to reception, unmanned again with people waiting. 3 staff arrived at the same time, I requested a fan, waited 30 minutes, no fan came, back to reception…….unmanned! Searched the hotel for 20 minutes, no one around! You need to sort this, how would I contact someone in an emergency? No answer on hotel phone…in reception! Staff pager…..in reception!! Come on!!!

I use Premier Inn all the time, usually comfortable and well maintained and convenient for food. I have stayed at this one about six times now. Originally the restaurant was at the end of the building and served basic but acceptable food. Last year this closed and the restaurant is now on the ground floor by reception. Stayed two weeks ago and the service was absolutely dire in the restaurant - staff chatting to each other by the till but not scanning to see if customers wanted to order etc. I had to keep asking staff to order, then for my food, then for dessert, then to pay. Staying again now and went for meal to be told - not apologised to - that food was delayed because “I’ve only got one chef in” - the tone and style of this ‘communication’ was appalling - not a hint of apology for delay etc. The food is very basic and menu limited - so I chose to go elsewhere. The hotel is tired for a Premier Inn and needs tidying up - it’s clean, the beds as always are fine and there is plentiful car parking - but it needs bringing back up and the restaurant staff need some customer service input.

I feel a little mean leaving two stars. Please allow me to explain and I do hope that the management of the parent company of Premier Inn rad this. Firstly, the positives: The car parking is free and I find it particularly annoying to have to pay which is clearly profiteering from the hotel. 10/10 here. Check in was relatively painless although the machine did not work. The receptionist telling me that it is on the blink did not help since you would expect it to be fixed. I booked as a corporate booking and thought that the rate was a little steep although I do live up north so perhaps my expectation was a little out of kilter. The room is as expected and all of the room amenities were there including a kettle and coffee machine (lovely) and I did get my good night of sleep as promised. The desk was adequate to work at. However, I feel somewhat seen off through being sold a dinner package. There was some selling at the reception in respect of having to book in order to secure a table. I went into the restaurant at the appointed hour and it was very noisy due to a corporate Party shouting away due to the acoustics. This is really nothing to complain about since they were just doing their thing. I took a table close to the kitchen and ordered my two course special including chicken goujons and Bolognese rigatoni. So far so good. It was just awful! While the prices appear reasonable I had a view of the “ping cuisine” where everything is just brought in and heated up (perhaps the burgers are cooked) and the quality of the food was just enough to sustain a human being. There was just something about the chicken goujons highlighting that they were the cheapest product that could have been sourced by Premier Inn and the same goes for the pasta dish. If you want a better experience, then consider the garage within walking distance that has a Marks & Spencer food offering where you could bring something back to your room such that the whole experience would not be spoiled. Or Deliveroo.

Restaurant staffed busy inexperienced youngsters. No evidence of much needed supervision. No problems ordering, but arrival of food was snail paced. Dessert did not arrive after 25 minutes of ordering, so I went to a local M&S to get Dessert. Clearly better to get your own food from M&S than be playrf with by no Service. Disgusted!

Hotel accommodation, check-in and staff were all fine. The restaurant was very disappointing, both for dinner and breakfast. We have stayed at numerous Premier Inns for bed and breakfast, but this one was well below what we expected to see.
