We drove here with our dog, and it was a fantastic stay! The hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the town centre, but the scenery is stunning, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. The room was small but cosy, and they allow dogs for a very small extra fee, which was great. Every member of staff was incredibly friendly, and the food at the partner restaurant really impressed me—it even made me fall in love with British food all over again! For the price and experience, this trip felt absolutely perfect. I loved every moment of it!

Great place very quiet

The Lodge is a comfortable and modern hotel near Legburthwaite and Thirlmere, in the Lake District. They don't automatically service your rooms every day but we liked this as it meant we weren't disturbed every day, and if we needed anything, all we had to do was ask. There's a coffee shop which is where continental breakfast is served, and this also stays open until 9pm, for drinks and light snacks. A full English breakfast has to be ordered the night before and you have to go to the King's Head Inn ten minutes walk/2 minutes drive away, but the continental breakfast is generous and varied. It's served at a relaxed 8.15 to 9.30am too. Beds are comfortable, rooms are big enough, ensuite with shower, everything is spotless. This hotel is completely dog-friendly too. All told, an enjoyable stay, in a hotel that is excellently well-placed for exploring the Lakes. Ambleside and Grasmere, ten minutes car journey away. A very friendly and helpful staff. We had a change of plan due to a local road closure, so parked near to this venue. We saw they had a sign outside advertising a cafe, so we went over to see if we could get a coffee and use the toilet. As I went in we were met with two ladies who became immediately hostile and told us the cafe is not open until 10:30am. Fair enough, I asked if we could quickly use the toilet as we were both desperate. They said the cafe toilet is for customers only so we couldn’t use it. Also, fair enough. So there we are, stood in the cafe looking at the toilet door dying to go and having to turn back to find somewhere else 15 mins away. Had we been greeted with some humanity in this hospitality venue we would have returned the positivity by stopping by again on the way down from the fells to purchase some goods. Instead we spent our money somewhere friendlier.

Been a few times it’s lovely little lodge placed in an idyllic valley surrounded by beautiful meadows and mountains. Great place to rest before and after a long hike up to Raven Crag or the infinity pool. The accommodation was excellent for the price and the staff were friendly, they provided great service and great coffee.

I took my 9 month old and 3 year old boys here just before Halloween. It was such a lovely place to stay. The family room was amazing for us. Plenty of room for my eldest boy to play. The staff are great. Very friendly. Casey and Floria really stood out. So polite and very helpful. The cafe is lovely. We had the continental breakfast which was nice and a good choice for all of us. Before we checked into the room I asked for some bits to be put on the beds. Toy cars for my eldest and some chocolates for us all for watching a film in the evening. This was done without any issues before we checked into the room. Definitely will stay again.
