We had a wonderful week stay at Laluna. The overall vibe of the hotel is relaxed and low key, which is what we were seeking. The staff, across the board, are super friendly and helpful. The front desk coordinated trips for us during our stay, including a tour to hike in Grenada’s stunning mountainous rain forest and water falls, with a monkey encounter which was awesome. The hotel's 16 cottages are nested in a lush tropical hillside, above one of the loveliest beaches in the Caribbean. The cottages are all the same setup and very nice. Super comfortable bed, effective air conditioning, stylish room and furnishings, shelves with several dozen books to take and read, a great bathroom and shower area, fun plunge pool, and a patio with magical views of the gardens and beach below. Our room was kept super clean and always nicely stocked. The only downside is that some cottages are configured as two connected units that could use better sound insolation between them. Some of the cottages are higher up on the hillside and require a couple minute climb up stairs to reach; make sure to get a unit closer to the beach if you are not up for that. The beach is right off the hotel main buildings. There are ample hotel lounging chairs, hammocks, and shade if you want it. The beach had a bit more waves than the popular BBC beach, which is just around a rocky outcropping from the hotel beach, but it was also quieter. At times we were the only ones on the stretch of beach in front of the hotel. And the swimming and snorkeling were great, with crystal clear water and lots of tropical fish. The hotel also provides Hobie catamarans, kayaks and paddle boards. One day we kayaked over to BBC beach which was great fun. The hotel restaurant is quite good. On the pricier side, but the food was as tasty as we’d had in the Caribbean. The cuisine is an interesting mix of Italian and Caribbean. The wine and mixed drinks were likewise quite good. And like the rest of the resort it was never crowded, so no need to worry about making reservations. The hotel has a world-class Asian Spa, where we had incredibly relaxing Balinese massages. They also have morning yoga class in an open-air pavilion right off the beach. There was also a gym at the resort, which, while small, had nice equipment. On the hotel grounds is an enchanted tropical forest several acres in size, sprinkled with creative outdoor art sculptures by local Grenadian artists. Also, a small studio building with more local art, and where apparently sometimes there is the opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about their work. A unique aspect of Laluna we were not expecting. Laluna is a superb boutique hotel on a wonderful island!
