The lodge we rented on Cabin Lake for 8 nights was immaculate! The beds are probably the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in while on holiday. Everything you could need in the kitchen. Shower was amazing – bigger than a lot of holiday rentals. There wasn’t a signal for internet inside the cabin so you have to be prepared to go outside for everything – even WhatsApp wouldn’t work inside so we had to keep popping outside at all times of day (and evening) to reply to friends! Fishing was hard. Didn’t catch anything while we were there but that’s the nature of the game! Others had a few bream and carp but we didn’t see anyone who caught lots of fish. Our only criticism about the whole holiday actually centres around the fishing. The old Woodlakes website had the fishing rules but the new Liv website doesn’t. As we didn’t know it was all going to change, we didn’t print them out. The only rules we managed to find after the change were some on Facebook from 2017. We called Woodlakes to see if they could tell us where to find them and were told they wouldn’t have changed much since the ones on Facebook. These say 2 rods only and bait boats only allowed on Championship Lake. When we got there, there were people on Cabin Lake with bait boats and 3 rods. When we mentioned to the other angler that we thought it was 2 rods, he just said ‘it’s OK, Marv doesn’t mind’. When we were next near reception I asked if they had rules and was handed a sheet of paper with different rules to those on Facebook. Yes, bait boats are allowed on Cabin Lake if you are staying in a lodge but they also say 2 rods only. Not sure why nobody checks though – there were a lot of anglers with 3 rods. The next problem came to light when more people moved in the other side of us. While the visitors in the next but one cabin came over to talk to the three anglers who were already on the lake to make sure they didn’t accidentally fish over us, the people 3 doors away just cast his lines all over everyone! I asked at reception what the rules were for this and was told it was corridor fishing – just straight across the lake from your swim. We didn’t want to make a fuss so when the angler from 3 cabins away came to complain to us that we were in their swim, we just packed our fishing gear away (we couldn’t move over much as the person the other side of us would have been cut out) until they went home. When we left, I said to the lady on reception that it might be an idea to give a copy of the rules to all visitors who book fishing and, maybe, somebody could check where everyone is fishing every now and then? We didn’t see anyone in the 8 days we were there. She said everyone already knew the rules (we must go to telepathy classes!) and somebody checks the lakes every day – at around 6am! I know we could have called reception but we felt that would have been making a fuss and so decided to just stop fishing for a day or two until the people who couldn’t see a straight line from
