Arrived earlier than check in time ..lovely person Luba I think checked us in early and made us feel very welcome...rooms are good size ..spotless and warm ..tea ,coffee..toiletries etc ..very comfortable bed and so close to ferry terminal and town

Booked 2 rooms at this hotel!!! Arrived after a 7 hour journey. Had a text confirming booking. When myself and my fiend, both females arrived, we were told there was no room for us. The man who came out to us, on the steps (wouldn’t let us into the hotel) wasn’t interested when we showed him the booking confirmation. When we asked what we should he just shrugged his shoulders. He then phoned his partner and had a long conversation, in a foreign language. So we couldn’t understand what he was saying. Then said no we have no rooms. Didn’t try to advise us on any other hotels we could try. Was honestly so rude. If you book this “hotel” be aware you may have a long journey and then “no room at the inn” only thing missing was a donkey. We were obviously very distressed. But he wasn’t interested.

I booked 2 double rooms with a shared bathroom August, we agreed a fee and cash on arrival. I text the owner to confirm the booking which he did. I thought no more about the booking until the date we arrived, which was 6th Sept. When we arrived we were informed there was not a booking and the hotel was full. I showed the text message with the confirmation but i was told the rooms had not been reserved. There was no attempt to help us or ring other hotels on the island to see if they had any availability. Unfortunately, it was sunny and 3 weddings on the Island this weekend so no rooms available anywhere on the Island. The whole incident was disgusting, they had obviously given our rooms away for a higher price and had no care for where we going going to stay!!!! i would not recommend this hotel as your room may not be available on arrival. A business should not be managed in such a way. Totally disgusted.

Best thing about this place? Location on the front 5 mins from ferry. Rooms were very clean. That’s it. No check in you just call up and get a code to enter. So the doorbell went all through the night until about 3am. The breakfast was an absolute joke. Two young girls on a Sunday didn’t have a clue. No menu you just have to guess. Rank weak coffee. Watery tasteless scrambled eggs . (we ordered fried) cheapest sausage I’ve ever encountered all at a 40 minute wait. Told by young girl we couldn’t check out until 10:30?! We left keys at the bar and went.

So understanding and compassionate when we had to cancel last minute! really great customer service and very friendly and understanding. Nice to experience such lovely customer experience and hope to go back and stay another time. Thank you!

Fantastic overnight here. Was a bit anxious after reading some reviews but was a last minute booking so just went for it. It's a lovely hotel. Our family room was very spacious, and huge bathroom. The big room and high ceilings reminded us of a beautiful traditional tenement and the styling is in keeping with that feel. Very comfy bed and lovely Bute fabrics pillows on the bed. Breakfast was fab, and plenty of hot freshly brewed coffee, no rotten coffee machine here, just fresh cafetiere. 🥰 We didn't check in until 10.30pm (a long day at Bute Fest!) but it wasn't an issue we just called the number and got straight up to our room. If you're looking for a purpose built, super modern, sleek hotel maybe this place just isn't for you. But you're missing out because it's a beautiful place to stay with incredible views. It's also a very short walk from the ferry terminal and in a great location for sightseeing.

Terrible experience, not clean, paper falling the off walls, shower floods the bathroom which had no toilet paper supplied , breakfast was embarrassingly bad especially with the cook coughing loudly while cooking. Never again !!! Totally disgusting

My cousin and I did an impromptu road trip up to the Highlands of Scotland. We hadn't planned to stay the night, but at the last minute decided to book into Cannon House instead of driving back to Glasgow. I booked at Cannon House thinking it was nearby to where we were, however not being from Scotland, I misunderstood the distance on the app, and it transpired that it was not close enough for us to get to in the time we had available. They instantly charged my credit card the full amount, and their policy was no refunds. Because of the circumstances, I called the hotel right away to request that they make an exception as it had been a genuine error on my part. The person on the other side of the line told me to do the cancellation through the *********** app that I had booked through, and that they would assist after I had done the cancellation. I did so right away, and sent an email directly to the hotel as well. Needless to say after 2 weeks and multiple follow ups they eventually refused to refund my card due to their "no cancellation policy". Whilst I completely understand that cancellations at the last minute cannot be refunded, I am disgusted to say the least that they would not accommodate what was an honest mistake and one which I contacted them literally within 15 minutes of making the incorrect booking and them charging my card. They would not have turned another booking away due to my cancellation, and thus would not been out of pocket. I feel that they have taken unnecessary advantage of what was a genuine human error. Needless to say I will not ever be booking there in earnest going forward.

Found a well hidden mouse trap in the bedroom, don’t be conned with the Breakfast included when booking!! Sticky buns and corn flakes , no cooked breakfast!!! Not value for money , won’t be using this again , feel very let down by the whole experience

We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and had a wonderful stay from start to finish, having one of the best breakfasts ever so couldn’t wait to repeat our experience, big mistake. On arrival there was no one here to let us in despite phoning the two numbers listed. Seems that the check in time should have been listed as 3, not 2. I appreciate that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. When we did finally get in we where answered at the door by Nish, a very nice chap though was his first day so didn’t really know what was happening, he directed us to Zoe, a lovely girl. Couldn’t apologise enough and upgraded us to the suite. The room itself was ok. Very tired though, clearly they had tried to modernise it with nice rugs and throws but ended up making the appearance worse than it was. They need to sort the curtains as they are too thin and the ones in the sitting area didn’t even close properly letting light in from early morning. Went for our cooked breakfast in the morning to find out there wasn’t any. There was some cereal and muffins but no hot stuff. The main problem is that the proper staff don’t start till Monday so why the heck was the hotel opened. As I said both Nish and Zoe were lovely and tried their best but we won’t be returning. I have taken dispute with the booking agent as completely not as advertised. We really looked forward to our return visit and the memory has now been tainted by this experience.

I was beguiled by the lovely photos and description that I found online but didn't research too intensely and it struck us as a nice final night to stay after leaving Tarbert, Loch Fyne, on our way back south. But it has changed hands and everything is tired and it is all in a sorry state. There is no on site receptionist if arriving when we did which might have been around 7pm on a Friday night. It is now Indian owned, which would be fine if it was apparent on the info I had found - which I realised was ten years old. After waiting a good fine minutes for someone to turn up we were shown to our room. The electrics are all dodgy and the piano in our room (!) may look quite characterful but is very out of tune! The garden must have been lovely once but it is now out of bounds. The front says there's a restaurant but I'm sure that has not been the case for a long time. The front is very shabby. The guy who showed us the room could give us no info on where to eat and we finally found a chippy open (phew!) after everywhere else was already closed. It really didn't feel like a nice town. Very by-gone, has-been... We were happy to hop on a ferry the next morning and be away...

We stayed in the cannon Hotel. We had a sea view room. We could see the ferry coming in The room was lovely and cosy. Bed excellent. Shower really easy to use. Staff were really friendly and breakfast was excellent.

Unfortunately the deceptive portrayal of the rooms and facilities on the Hotel's website is unforgivable, so it's one star from me. The overall standard of service was also simply nowhere near in keeping with what we were asked to pay. Tragically, the Hotel has evidently been 'modernised' since the last photos were taken, and to a very poor standard overall. The resulting décor is 'modern grey' with white lighting, very reminiscent of a chain hotel but with peeling wallpaper and a crack in the window. The room contained no furniture except the bed, and our double bed was in fact two single beds held together with a double sheet. In the end we were lucky: we asked to view another room, which quite simply looked like the bedroom of somebody going through a rough patch. Exhausted carpet, a wooden plank nailed to the wall, and the TV sitting on a bizarre wooden stand, with not even a desk this time. The entire hotel is apparently being run by one porter (who also does breakfast). We and others were mostly unable to attract attention by ringing the doorbell, so we had to call the porter's mobile. On our second night I let someone in who was unable to get in by ringing, and who later told us they were starting their first shift. The porter also gave us the wrong room at first (without sea view), before later offering us the one we'd booked. To his credit, he did keep our bag at the hotel for us after we checked out, so we could visit the attractions without our luggage. Breakfast was arguably of the standard one would expect at a hostel, certainly not a hotel. Cold beans, a quarter of a tomato, and a quarter of a mushroom with veggie sausages, haggis, hash browns and toast. Overall really quite poor. It made us sad to think that this charmingly decorated building filled with vintage furniture had met its end.

Avoid like the plague ,was met at the door ,given key an instructions ,double room with a sea view ,yeah double bed no headboard or mattress protector ,2 chairs at each side no bed side lamps ,furniture very dated ,2 seater couch only fit for the bed ,sagging ,peeling and not fit to sit on ,curtains filthy ,one of the windows broken and taped up ,comb webs so thick behind the couch you could use them at Halloween, no bin in bathroom ,miss matched carpet to the point the cream carpet had a big filthy stain ,no tea bags ,breakfast another joke more like kids portion unappealing, don't order mushrooms you'll only get a pea size bit lol ,£85 a night ,this place is a joke for the cost ,sustainable its advertised as ,yeah because there's nothing worth £85 at this hotel ,what's advertised on booking .com isn't what you get ,had to give one star to write this review
