Finding ourselves with some extra holiday to use up before the end of the year, we quickly arranged a short break to Rome. As we were only in the city for one and a half days and two nights, we wanted a central location with plenty of the main sights within easy reach. We thought the penalty for such accommodation might either be sky-high prices, or staying somewhere a bit dodgy! However, we had the pleasure of staying at the Cardilli Luxury Rooms, which could not have been any better. Its imposing wooden doors and stylish vintage elevator (like something out of ‘Ripley’) led to an elegant room with a very comfortable bed, a bathroom with spa bath and divine-smelling toiletries, and other impressive amenities, including the cheapest mini-bar we’ve ever seen! Like all reviewers say, Emanuele and the other host who greeted us on arrival and whose name we didn’t catch, were so friendly and welcoming that within minutes we felt as if we were staying with dear friends who would do anything for us to ensure we had the best time. Actually, that started at our local airport, as we received WhatsApp messages from Emanuele with tips about our journey from Ciampino Airport to the hotel. It’s a fixed rate of 40 euros. We had no trouble getting a cab straight away, and the traffic at 4pm on a Thursday was fairly quiet with the trip taking about 30 minutes. Rome is just awesome, and during our stay it wasn’t half as busy as we had anticipated, with the sights we visited much quieter and more accessible than we dared hope. From the hotel it was a 10-minute walk in one direction to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, and about 10 minutes in the other to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, the Pantheon and so many other historic treasures. Recommend booking a Colosseum/Roman Forum tour with enjoyrome.com – our guide Lucilla, an archaeologist, was brilliant, and shared lots of interesting stories over the four hours or so that we were in her company. Everyone was very friendly and welcomed our attempts at speaking Italian, the early October weather was wonderful, with temperatures in the mid-70s, food and drink were both exceptional value for money – even steps away from the famous attractions – and I had the biggest negroni I’ve ever had in my life for just 7 euros! Even the airport was cheap, with a tea, a caffe latte and a croissant coming in at 9 euros, and a litre of Campari 15 euros. With so much more to see, we will definitely be returning to Rome, and we will definitely be staying at the Cardilli Luxury Rooms.

We stayed 3 nights/4 days in the beautiful B&B of Emanuele. Emanuele is the perfect host! Already before our arrival there were several whatsapp messages between us and he wanted to help us with all kinds of things. He also made a reservation for us in a nice rooftop restaurant and we could also leave our luggage with him on the day of departure. We even got a key to get in in case he wouldn't be present for a while. The location is a bit outside the center of Rome, but only a 15 min walk from Termini station and a good base for the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum... All 15 minutes on foot. If we come to Rome next time, we will definitely come back here!

Absolutely amazing stay at Cardilli Luxury rooms. We stayed as a family of 3, the room was super clean and stylish. Emmanule was an excellent host and answered all our questions quickly. Smooth check-in and check out process. Perfect location to explore this beautiful city. Highly recommend, will stay again!

Super séjour : emplacement en plein centre de Rome pratique pour tout faire à pied, chambre très propre, spacieuse et climatisée. Literie plutôt agréable et grand dressing. Un grand merci à Emanuele qui nous a très bien accueilli et conseillé , toujours prêt à nous aider et faire en sorte que notre séjour se passe au mieux ! Je recommande vivement

Mooie kamers in een statig gebouw. Gastheer Emanuele stelt alles in het werk om je verblijf top te laten verlopen. Hij is steeds en vlot bereikbaar. Een echte aanrader om bij Emanuele te logeren!

Our room was immaculate & bed was really comfy. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Centrally located in between main attractions (Colosseum / Trevi Fountain etc). Would definitely stay here again when we return to Rome.
