I just was screamed at and threatened with being kicked out by a violent guest services desk person. The story: I went by the office and rang the bell wanting to ask a question and get a hair dryer. No one came. I finally decided it wasn't a big deal, I went next door and used my key to get into the vending area to get some ice. My key worked fine, after getting ice and buying water, I then went to my room. My keys wouldn't work on my room door. I went back to the office. Rang the bell, HEARD and SAW nothing, so I knocked. The employee came rushing to the door and screamed at me asking if I wanted to get kicked out?!?! I told her I knocked because I didn't hear the bell so thought it wasn't working. She YELLED at me that she was a person who had stuff to do and I was violently beating on the door and if I continued to argue with her, she'd kick me out!! I kindly and calmly attempted to explain that I simply knocked because I didn’t think the doorbell was working and my keys weren’t working and I needed to get into my room. She continued to scream that I was arguing with her. Finally, I was able to get her to listen that my keys weren’t working. I told her that I was getting a yellow light and the door wouldn’t open. She proceeded to tell me that the keys were fine and I was just "doing it wrong". I needed to press it on the pad. I told her that's what I did and got a yellow light. She said that meant someone was on the room. I told her that no one SHOULD be in the room as my stuff was in there and I needed to get in. She "checked" my keys and said they were fine. I went back to the room, they still didn't work. I went back AGAIN to the office. This time, she checked my id to make sure I belonged in the room, and then she finally reprogrammed my keycard (which is what I wanted the first time). As I was walking away, I saw her smile snidely. She knew she should have reprogrammed my key the first time but let me walk back and forth twice to "punish" me for knocking?!?! I’ve never experienced such unprofessional and confrontational behavior. She was scary, nasty, and rude.

I had not stayed at a Red Roof Inn for years (decades), so I had no idea what to expect. The room was perfectly adequate. It was clean and quiet. Even though this location has two buildings and quite a few rooms, I heard no parking lot traffic noise of people or vehicles. I did struggle a bit trying to find the lobby. My GPS could not get me there exactly.The lobby is at the SE corner of the building that is parallel to Bus Hwy 20, the building on the north side of the block. The best part of my stay was walking into the lobby that evening and being greeted pleasantly and professionally by Tiffany Allen. She made me feel welcome, as if I were coming home after a long absence. She got me checked and gave me all the information I needed to get to my room and find a place for dinner quickly, clearly, and pleasantly. Tiffany's great skills were the best part of the stay. I want to stay again just to be greeted with that wonderful smile!

This Inn is a potential Goldmine. This in light of the Exponential growth in the Mobile Work Force and Business travers in the area, It Unfortunately has fallen short with the basics on standard of: Cleaning, Pest Control, Basic Maintenance and Guest Service. The management with Guest Services has created a culture with Guest Services that is really bad. This Inn has turned me away from ever staying in any of the the Red Roof's facilities anywhere. I was with my Godson and it was the absolute worse Hotel, or Inn that we have ever stated. I am certain the management will send a pre-made dear John letter, though after Two times (giving it a second chance) this Inn is plain out miss managed.

This hotel is shi++y, It should be called "DOG HOUSE" such a rachet a&& place. If I needed my dog to stay overnight this would be the perfect spot. But for humans the homeless think an alley is better. Front desk a joke you have a young thot about 20 to 25 at the desk looking like a passed down Indian whom I specifically see her give a guy a room was in front of us and say I see you in a minute on God is nasty beyond belief. If you go to a hotel and you see maybe 2 cars in the lot DRIVE THE F@#& AWAY like you on a high speed chase. These mfs don't give refund even if you saw the workers killing folks putting them in freezers like they did Kenika Jenkins 19 year old in Chicago at the crown plaza do your research and stay out rachet ass hotels. Always look up the owner and who he affiliated with. Some information bout hotels will blow your mind. Take my advice. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM RED ROOF INN. NO BREAKFAST, NO REFUND HAVING IN THE DUMPS RAN DOWN STAFF A&& building. Truckers for a good time, try RED ROOF INN for one night. Watch hotels that have a no refund policy. Something sneaky going on with the staff. #Guarantee.

We were traveling to Rockford for a Lacrosse tournament and this was one of the last hotel rooms available in the city. My daughter and I checked in to the room and AC was broken and security latch was missing. The clerk said they had no other rooms available and that she could not refund me that night - only her manager could. We were already paying a premium ($162.00 a night + a $50.00 security deposit) due to demand. I took a video of the AC (sounded like a lawn mower running) just in case they wanted "proof". Early the next week I'd still not received a refund and contacted the property. The manager said the AC was working fine and the lock was in place and they would not be refunding me for the 2 nights I did not stay at the property. I told him that I would send the video footage and he proceeded to end the call. I sent the video footage to the property and to Red Roof Corporate along with a detailed explanation and request for reimbursement since they had no other rooms available. I received emails from both saying sorry but they would not provide a refund. It would seem there is likely no scenario by which this property (or Red Roof Inn) would refund a clients money if a non-working AC, no security lock and NO other rooms to offer does not qualify. Read the other reviews and you will see a pattern for this property (and Red Roof Inn Corporate).

Ac does not work I have to use a small fan to cool off and belittled my husband. Also they charged me an extra 50 for a “deposit fee” that was not mentioned until we were at the front desk. Consider your options before you stay here in Rockford Illinois

Reserved two accesible rooms and we got side by side which made loading of walkers ultra easy. Friendly & efficient staff. Next door neighbors: Starbucks, Hard Rock ******, Scoreboard Lounge, Gerry’s Pizza. Across street: Denny’s & gas.

Not only is this hotel dirty, smells, loud, dangerous and has bugs, bad bugs that they justify. The Michael (General Manager) is a smooth talker and if the sky is blue and didn't fit his signorial, he would make up something. I am local to Rockford, checking in using American Express (A guarantee payee) and after 29 Day he made up laws (I wonder if the taxes go to proper places). Unfortunately, the other hotel in the area was booked and it was out of necessity staying at Red Roof (Even One day is too long) Michael assured me that the closing prior due Bedbugs a problem... It is a problem. I had to throw everthing brought into Inn, clothes and all out leaving. The uncontrolled noise level was unbelievable, Michael's answer to that " Did the Police Come"??? I had an AK type weapon pointed at me and other Guests threatened my life (Drug Dealers), consistent base from loud music every day of the week, to the point of renting a second room in the front of the hotel for a good night's sleep. The Red Roof is Two Inns at once: there is a portion for nightly guest from out of town, though the night clerk set me in the back with locals staying under distressed circumstances with financial assistance... I paid almost $2000 for the abuse. He also pockets all safe fees if you don't make it clear it wasn't used, then still will try to through on a deposit after checking out... my credit card company didn't allow. Another shame on Michael: He has some god people and is mismanaging them so bad... what a shame

Booked two nights left after one. Refrigerator did not work. No resolution promised until Monday we were leaving Sunday. Baseboard peeling off. Room smelled stale sprayed a lot of Lysol. Mattresses are encapsulated in bed bug proof covers. Staff said this was because they had just got all new bedding. Doubtful as bed was not comfy and pillows were flat and lumpy. After a poor nights sleep got up to shower next morning and saw black mold under soap dish in shower. Checked out a day early could not face another night there. Took pictures as proof to secure my partial refund which I will hopefully get. Learned my lesson budget hotel these days is not a good choice. Went to a Holiday Inn good nights sleep in clean surroundings.

Our room was booked and paid for via a third party. Upon arrival, the front desk attenant didn't know how to use the card on file with the reservation for the additional deposit for incidentals. She refused to use tap/smart pay even though it was available and an acceptable form of payment according to the manager. She also refused the cash app card despite the manager, Michael Smith, telling me the following day that it was also acceptable. In addition, the front desk attendant refused to allow another guest to use their credit card to cover the refundable incidental deposit. During this time the front desk attendant put Red Roof's corporate reservationist on permanent hold refusing to answer subsequent calls from Red Roof corporate or the third party through which the reservation was booked. In the end, while the reservation was paid, we were denied not only check-in, but also a refund of the money paid for the room! The money itself was a minimal amount that's not going to break us. But as a matter of ethics, principle and doing what is right, an establishment cannot take payment for services, refuse to render them and then keep that payment in the name of some UNWRITTEN, made up at the spur of the moment, policy. Shame on you Michael Smith, General Manager, Red Roof Inn, Rockford, Illinois for not making this right. I AM NOW HESITANT TO STAY AT ANY RED ROOF IN KNOWING THIS IS HOW THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DO BUSINESS.
