We were there for a wedding and there were a lot of safety concerns especially for older guests. There was a light rain all day, which amplified these concerns. There were no attendants from the venue to offer assistance or guidance to arriving guests. The parking area wasn't much more than a mud pit, the driveway walking up to the ceremony /reception area was dirt and some gravel -wet and muddy-the ceremony site under the tent was ok but no coverage to walk to the bathroom trailers-(which were NOT attended and became muddy less than halfway through the event) or to the area where the cocktail hour or reception area (in the barn). There was no real path to the bathrooms just some random gravel, no safe path to the "cocktail" area under the barn -there were no handrails on the slate steps which were slippery. At the end of the evening as guests were going to their cars it became yet another safety issue as there was NO LIGHTING IN THE PARKING AREA!! The wedding couple provided umbrellas which was helpful but the venue FAILED MISERABLY to pivot because of the weather. More thought, consideration and attention should have been paid to the rain plan. They are very lucky that no one had a miss-hap causing injury. It seems to me that perhaps the Town Building inspector might check out some of these concerns...

We stayed here one night. Our original accommodations were canceled due to an electrical outage. Little did we know, this would be a lucky turn of fate. I found Stonehill's on TripAdvisor, and we decided to stay there. The property is absolutely beautiful & well maintained. There are animals roaming about the farm, which, being an animal lover, I found so endearing and warm. They have wonderful common spaces with fire pits and lots of cozy places to sit and relax. Our room very clean, tons of unexpected amenites, including a small fan. I always need a fan to sleep (I travel with a veyr small one), but there was one in the room, which I have never experienced even at 5 star hotels - a cute little desktop Vornado. There was a generouly stocked honor bar, the bed and bed linens SO comfortable. The bathroom was impeccalbe with top notch bath products and everything you could need. The continental breakfast (included in the room rate) was very generous with lots of different options. The bar and bartender, Carly, are phenomenal, as is the property manager, Nate. This is not what you would expect for such a small establishment out in the countryside. This place is a true find and GEM!!! I cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be back.
