Super hotel , old school style

Road trip with friends, the hotel staff friendly and welcoming, but the restaurant service is slow, but awesome gin collection. The wine list is also good. The rooms comfortable with excellent linen and the finer touches are great. The stoep for sundowners is great

We so enjoyed staying at this lovely old hotel again. Our room , one of the newer suites was just perfect in every way and the views are to die for! The staff are friendly, professional and most welcoming. We had breakfast and dinner each night sitting on the ancient veranda watching the world go by and the sunsets….magical. Food is excellent….cooked to perfection and plenty of choice.

We went on a Roadtrip to visit a friend near Riebeeck Kasteel & decided we would do lunch at the Royal Hotel in Riebeeck Kasteel. What a beautiful hotel with a large veranda and stunning decor totally on point. We sat on the veranda & placed our orders. What an amasing venue and we where totally relaxed enjoying the world go by & being keen spectators. Our cuisine arrived & we were totally blown away by the presentation, excellent service and stunning taste of the the dishes we ordered. What an excellent way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon with good friends & great food. If you're in this area & looking for a local gem, this is your place. We went along for a drink and dinner, as we always do when staying in Riebeek Kasteel. How can you miss having a giant G&T sitting on the longest stoep south of the Limpopo? It is like stepping back one hundred years but with all modern conveniences. We had neglected to book (remember to book if you want to sit on the stoep!), but luckily someone cancelled and so we were able to take their table on the stoep. Drinks were fabulous, service was friendly and efficient, and the dinner was lovely, they really have improved the food quality over the years. The Royal Tomato salad might be the best thing we ate on the entire holiday this time - I will be trying to recreate that for some time.

A great place for a gin and tonic, very large selection of imported and local south african gins. Presented as a work of art with complementing fruit garnish. Sit on the stoop and watch the sun go down. They also have a great Indonesian restaurant and are right next to the best French bistro Au Bouchon Rouge
