繆斯 - 老城公寓

Our particular apartment was a very challenging space to live in for 7 nights. The website photographs of Urania (decorated in orange) are very deceptive, indeed hardly recognisable. Bathroom door handle hanging off, shower support drooping, no cutting knife for bread/veg etc, no chopping board, spatula or corkscrew. We used my dressing gown cord to tie the toilet lid to the cistern, otherwise it fell into your back when seated. Kitchen had a single hotplate and one socket, and was so dark that we used our torch to cook by. Balcony minute and shared with aircon generator. Bathroom and kitchen area are narrow and cramped, and we are amazed to see that the iron sofa in the kitchen is billed as a bed for a third adult. There is no door or curtain between the double bed and the single, and the couple would have to walk directly past the single bed to visit the toilet at night. The wardrobe, for 3 people, has 6 coathangers and is 40cm wide. We placed some clothing on the shelf, which immediately fell down. Nothing has been carefully thought out. The keys are rivetted on to a pad which must be inserted into a socket inside to work the electricity. The door snib would not stay open, so if the door shut when you were outside, you were locked out. 30 mins after arriving, we were stranded on the balcony and had to call for help as our phones were inside. The landlord told us to wedge the door open. We said that if we did that, mosquitoes would get in, and the aircon cut out. He shrugged. We had to wedge a footfile into the snib to hold it open and prevent it locking. This apartment would be OK for two backpackers for a couple of nights, but certainly not for three people, or for a longer time. We are well travelled and have stayed in numerous budget venues, but we found this unacceptable. It was cleaned whenever we wished, and was well-located, but otherwise very disappointing.

It was a lovely, clean, well stocked apartment. One of four. I would definitely recommend. Situated in a very quiet area of the old town near the sinogogue. There is a mini market less than 100 yards away which was great for essentials such as bread and milk. The main shopping area is only a couple of minutes walk. It had a well presented outdoor seating area for each of the four flats. The kitchen was clean with kettle, panini toaster, coffee maker, a single hob. Small but perfect. The bathroom was a squeeze so wouldn’t recommend it for large people . But clean and towels and toiletries were provided.
