Located in a neighborhood very close to the national gallery and easily within walking distance to lots of great restaurants and the waterfront. We were in Room 3 for 2 nights. Friendly pre- arrival email from manager to ensure proper room/ bed setup for 2 people. Outside Entrance was a unkempt and we found our room by virtue of a sign on the exterior door with my name and the key in the lock. Room was warm and surfaces were very clean. Lots of seating, but no place for hanging clothes other than a standing coatrack with a dozen hangers. No available outlets near the bed -— we unplugged the lamps for the purposes of charging our devices. We discovered that the room is on the approach to runway 19 at Reykjavik airport. Not consistently loud, but occasional. We did not see the other rooms in the guesthouse, but the photos on the web site we used to make our decision were not representative of the condition and appearance of ours.The kitchen looked recently painted, but elsewhere there was lots of peeling paint, nail holes and screws in the walls, and a burn hole in the sofa. The bathroom was a patchwork of repairs with a shower curtain that ran the length of the room — but not around the end of the shower so water got all over the floor. The bay window overlooked an unkempt back yard with large piles of rubbish and building materials. While it was a clean warm place to sleep, it was not a pleasant place to hang out. Based upon how the guest house was represented and what we received, we were disappointed and can’t recommend

I recently stayed at Hotel Holt in Reykjavík and unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. Despite being clean, the hotel looked very different from the pictures and felt extremely dated. It had more of a horror hotel vibe than the quirky atmosphere I was hoping for. Considering the price of nearly €300 per night for a 4-star hotel, I expected certain basic amenities that were missing. Firstly, there were no blackout curtains, so it was uncomfortably bright throughout the night - the sun does not set in Iceland. Secondly, the lack of proper ventilation made the room extremely hot, and even though I didn't expect air conditioning, a fully openable window or a fan would have been appreciated. Additionally, the absence of a fridge in the room was surprising for a 4* hotel. The quality of the pillows was subpar and cheap, providing little comfort. On top of that, I experienced noisy staff early in the morning. At 6 am, two staff members were engaged in a loud conversation outside our room, making it feel as if they were right there with us. Overall, my experience at Hotel Holt was a disappointment. I had expected more from a 4-star hotel, especially considering the price I paid.

I love this hotel! Such a great location.Great room!. So impressed with all the staff who are so helpful and accommodating. As a solo traveler I really appreciate their helpfulness. . Only place I'd stay when in Reykjavik.

This hotel is well located in the old harbour area and an easy walk to most of the main attractions in the city. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms on the harbour side have good views. Some rooms are very cramped - we paid for an upgrade to a fourth floor harbour side with a balcony and it was worth the extra. Breakfast was generous with plenty of choices and the on-site restaurant had a limited menu but the food was good especially after a long drive before arriving. My only complaint is that when you are driving in from the sea wall end there is no visible name on the hotel and we went round in circles for quite a while until we found it. Because it has changed its name recently it is not on most GPS in hire cars. Parking is a gravel pit nearby with no signage whatsoever.

Buenas habitaciones y baños suficientes y limpios para todo el mundo. La cocina pequeña y poco equipada lo cual en Islandia es un inconveniente porque muchas veces se come de súper. Tuvimos el desayuno incluido dos noches y muy sencillo, aunque variado y suficiente.

We were initially allocated 331 which was in another block and had twin beds, so we swapped to room 301 which was double and we weren't disappointed. It was a clean and spacious, comfy bed .Great to have a ettle, fridge and coffee machine :-) Large walk in shower with constant hot water. Large wardrobe, plenty of storage. We had a 2nd door onto a corridor to other rooms, there was windows in this wall but by opening curtains people on corridor could look in. Only downside no natural light. Relatives across corridor in room 305 had full wall of windows for day light. Breakfast was good choice and plentiful. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Located with walking access to everything. Would stay here again and recommend

The guesthouse itself was nice enough. Note that if you stay in one of the economy rooms, you will only have access to one bathroom per 5 rooms (unless you are willing to walk back to the main house and use one of the bathrooms there). This was not an issue during my stay, but I woke up super early to avoid it becoming an issue. The real issue for me was the lack of communication. I ended up needing to spend an extra 50 dollars on long distance calls because this business failed to check their email or Facebook messages. On top of that, I had to call twice because I was given incorrect information the first time. Note that booking this property is a risk if you book through a third party (Expedia etc) because you may not receive the email with instructions on how to check in (this is why I had to call repeatedly after they failed to answer my emails).
