法羅斯海灘飯店(Faros Rooms & Suites)

The view from our window was perfect. Perfect location and very walkable. The downside was that the noise/music from the disco across the way was very loud all night long. It did not stop until 3am. The room is on the small side, but clean and fresh.

The staff was very nice and the hotel is in a great location as far as old town Rethymno- but that area of the port smelled like sewage as did the room we were in. I’m not sure the actual hotel could do anything about it. The shower/bathroom also wasn’t very clean, mold on walls - need a good scrubbing! We were only in town for 1 night so we dealt with it but I would have changed hotels if we were planning to stay longer.

Myself and my partner had booked this hotel for our 10 night stay in August. I had my reservations to start with as I did not think the pictures sold the hotel as a 5* however what we arrived to was worse than I even imagined. We arrived just before 11pm and we’re shown our room which is pictured- horrific stains on the carpets, walls, bed, everywhere! The room was dark and smelly with a balcony you couldn’t even step onto. The bed had a single towel on it which myself and my partner had to share that night to sleep which I can honestly say I didn’t get any of. We asked for a room upgrade twice the next day (wishing to pay of course) and we were told all rooms are the same despite a price list being at reception showing different rooms and different prices. The pool is very small not clean. I sat by the childrens pool for a very short time and noticed I was covered with grime- tiles in the pool were green with slime. The food was not too bad and the young waiters in the restaurant were polite and welcoming. We contacted on the beach who we booked through and we’re moved hotel the next day. The gentleman from on the beach was fantastic and did everything he could to support us. The hotel manager for faros was not impressed to hear we were moving to Marti Resort just 5 minutes walk away and began to bad mouth the resort. She felt Marti was the same as her hotel and that we wouldn’t be any happier apart from it being bigger “if we like that sort of thing”. The receptionist was very rude and they spoke in Turkish about us and we had to ask 4 times if we had checked out yet as she continued to try do other things. On leaving we met a gentleman who was delighted to hear he could move hotel as he had just arrived and was horrified at the hotel also. Overall this hotel is like something from the shining and is 2* if that. We successfully moved to Marti which I can confirm is 5* quality. Myself and my partner firmly believe the positive reviews for this hotel have either been paid for or written by staff as the entire place is disgusting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Location, location , location Best location overlooking de old harbor. Rooms not luxurious but very clean, friendly staff. Would stay here again for one or two nights, just for the location and the good price value. We had 2 rooms with each 3 people. Tip: if you want a authentic Greek breakfast for a cheap price, 2 minutes away by foot is Stella’s kitchen, Super!

We stayed here for 2 nights and we kinda new what to expect, we looked closely to the pictures on *********** and we knew that the room is small, quite dark and that the balcony is shared with 3 other rooms. But it was a choice we made. It's pretty easy to find, close to the fish taverna (the smell of fried fish is not as irritating as I thought it would be). The person booking us took us in and then called another one who spoke English a bit better, they showed us to our room, the one in the end of the hallway. This way was better, at least no one would have to pass us in order to get to their room. Rooms and balconies seem very different in the reviews, but I'll just suppose there aren't many hotels with the name of Faros with the same address 88 Eleftheriou Venizelou. The whole building seems somehow patched up from other pieces of buildings (the front door at the reception downstairs is made of two pieces, one the size of a normal door and another quarter of a door, interesting choice). The room itself was clean but as another reviewer mentioned, it was dark, since it only had natural light from a little window towards the balcony (not directly the outside). There was also a small window up in the bathroom (but no way to open it, so if you gotta poop, do it fast and flush faster). There's also a small window up on the wall, in the right of the bathroom, but we discovered it too late. There were three beds for some reason, the reason being if you're three people I guess (we were two, but we wanted view to the sea...). Not much else in the room, just the basics to make a tea, a tiny little fridge that moved when we pulled the door to open it. Wi-fi and AC were ok. Shower was a bit weird, since there was the bar to hang the shower head on (so you don't have to keep it in your heand or leave it on the floor) but there was nothing else to attach the shower head to (there was just the bar). No shower curtain or nothing to keep the water from spraying around. The tiniest of sinks crowded in there. The balcony was a nice touch (even though not private at all, I felt the need to always make as little noise as I could, so as not to disturb the other guests). But I guess it's a nice place to go on a somewhat low budget and look rich in your instagram pictures. Early in the morning the sunrise is amazing but those curtains are there for a reason, in august it will get really hot, really fast. It's location ups the price I guess, the view is beautiful in the morning with the sunrise and just as beautiful in the night, with the moon just so close to the lighthouse. It has a beach nearby (not the cleanest being near the port) with no umbrelas or anything, just hard sand and some palm trees for a bit of shade, but the old center is basically all around you. It was ok, I guess, but they need to do something about those rooms, organize them a bit better. I mean, I understand it's just business and profit after all, but they could do so much better with n

My boyfriend and I stayed for seven nights at the Faros Beach Hotel. From the first day to the last, we were astounded by the friendly service of the staff. They made us feel like we were at home. A huge thank you to the two ladies working at the desk. If someone is looking for a sweet hotel in a great location, this is your place!
