Room and bathroom were very well appointed. Spotlessly clean throughout. Restaurant was very good with attentive young staff. Spacious grounds with walking areas. Only one negative was the woman in reception who never even looked up from her computer screen and never even welcomed us. It was the same in check out. No goodbye. Nothing. I would suggest the Hotel sends her on a course in customer care.

There are several entries on TripAdvisor for Schloss Rattey, but this seems the only one relating to the hotel in its current (Inselmuhle Usedom) ownership. A lot of money has been spent refurbishing the park and all the buildings (and some work continues); the setting is glorious and peaceful, in a park with lakes and a beautiful old church. Our room was impressive: smart, high-ceilinged, lovely view; and dinner was very reasonably priced for the overall ambience, and we enjoyed working our way through the estate's own wines. The one disappointment was the lack of engagement by staff: little warmth shown when checking in or subsequently, something we came across surprisingly often in northern Germany (not a language issue).
