Booked All Inclusive package. The staff were generally warm, both in kuala besut office and Perhentian island, there were a lot of stairs and very steep ramps to go to rooms. The room we had is spacious and there are stairs that leads up to the balcony.nice view and can hang wet clothes to dry. The package includes unlimited food and beverage, no in room dining. The food is average overall, we didn't get to have western/Italian food for dinner due to the weather, the restaurant was closed.Wonder why can't they just cook at the main kitchen(Bayu restaurant). So we sort of lose out here. However, we did get to have it on the last night there, once out of 3 nights. The teh tarik at bayu restaurant was nice. Our package included unlimited snorkeling trips too, the trips are twice a day, with different islands for each trip.Unfortunately in Sept, the weather was bad, 🌧 every evening .Snorkeling trip and sunset cruise were cancelled. So we did batik painting, played congkak, foosball, adopt corals and just hang out at the beach. Oh, glass bottom tour is highly recommended as we get to see and have better understanding on the corals. In summary, we enjoyed our time in Perhentian but I don't think that the package is worth it if you go in Sept. Especially if you don't take alcoholic drinks.
July 2022 : Rooms and bathrooms are clean, a bit dated BUT clean. Local food was great, breakfast was below average, food generally gets very expensive, and sadly a handful of restaurant/kitchen staff could be the reason why the rating is low. At times, the food can really take a long time to be served even when the restaurant is barely occupied. The rest of the staff (non-restaurant) are extremely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping, front desk, water activity team were nothing but great. They truly are meant for hospitality. July 2023 : Returned as a guest again. Again, I’m happy with the front desk service and state of the room. Breakfast continued to be below average. Local lunch and dinner was bad. Really bad, which is so disappointing. Last year’s local food was so good! Not sure if they hired a new chef? Enjoyed snorkeling both visits. Well arranged, it was just a really fun experience. May return in 2024, just for the room and snorkeling. Will opt to eat at the nearby local eateries. Overall, the staff are great just don’t be surprised to bump into 1 - 2 not so friendly ones.
This is my third time staying at Mimpi Perhentian. It is sad to share that my experience this round is the worst as compared to the first two trips. There is no toiletries refill after the room was made up because the items are out of stock. I do understand that it closing season soon because of the monsoon. However, I did pay for the room at full price. Why do I have to be the collateral damage of the weather? The bed sheet and comforter have a smell which is caused by the sheet not drying properly. On my fourth day, the room was not made up when I returned to my room at noon. I called the front desk and told them to give me a new set of towels and omit the housekeeping. At around 4pm, the housekeeping staff knocked on my door and wanted to make up the room. Hence I am not sure if they have initially forgotten to make my room or if they only have one staff to do housekeeping. On top of that, I had a rude encounter with the restaurant manager. I went diving daily at 8am hence I have made a special request to pack my breakfast (which is included in the room package) and I will collect it at noon time. On the first day, the packed food portion was too little so I requested extra fruits on the second day with the restaurant manager in the morning. She said ok and when I collected my food at noon, it was not packed. Hence I asked the waitress on duty to pack it for me instead. On the third day, I saw the same restaurant manager again and I explained to her that she didn’t pack the extra fruits for me. She said I was not allowed to pack the food after I have eaten at the restaurant. I told her that I go diving at 8am, and I have never sat down to eat. She started to raise her voice and told me that I cannot pack the extra fruits because customers are only allowed to have one portion of fruits (which looks like a portion for a child). Which I find ridiculous because I get to dine an unlimited portion if I dine in. Furthermore, I did not request the packed food for fun. I will have digestive problems if I eat and dive. The restaurant manager was not only rude and inconsiderate, it is most disappointing that she judged me when all I did was take care of my health so that I can enjoy my dives and holiday.

Baby Sharks October 2024 When my husband and I found out that Marriott is opening a hotel in Perhentian, we were so excited as we are loyal Bonvoy fans through and through. We stayed in this resort for 2 nights on 8-10th October 2024 and we had a really great time. 1) Elite benefits - being a Platinum elite member, I am happy to say that all the benefits were honoured. We were given priority boarding and essentially business class seats aboard their private ferry to the island (a really sweet touch), we were given early check in and late check out, room upgrade, complimentary breakfast, and 2 complimentary drinks at the lounge everyday. The whole team also took the extra effort to make us feel welcomed throughout our stay with most staffs addressing us by our names and remembering which room we are in. That was really sweet. 2) Service - some reviews mentioned that service has been poor etc but that is contrary to what we experienced. The team there has been nothing but fantastic throughout our stay. Special shoutout to Lina from Sekochi restaurant, Zulfadli from The Greatroom, and Ell who was so patient with all our requests. Not forgetting the rest of the team who always greeted us with warm smiles. 3) Rooms - Rooms were decent with nothing to fault. 4) Beach access - unfortunately the resort is built on a hill hence the only way to access the beach is by walking down 100 plus steps to tranquility beach and 500 plus steps to romantic beach. We absolutely loved romantic beach. Clear turquoise water with plenty of fishes. However, the track up is not for the faint hearted. We also saw plenty of baby sharks near the jetty! Overall, what a lovely stay. And can’t wait to return in the future. Kudos to the entire team 👍
