I arrived at the Garlands Del Rio hotel with great expectations. After being shown the room they gave me which was similar to a dungeon, they showed be another room, similar but more of a pit. Then they showed me a lovely room telling me that that would be $40 extra per night. We agreed on $30 extra per night and was checked into the room. It wasn't until after I entered the room that I noticed the picture of the room I was in was the category of room I reserved. Where I should've gotten this room in the first place, and then upgraded as my platinum VIP status permits, I received none of that. All I received was an upsell from the very beginning. The front desk representative, Marta was very rude and dismissive of my requests. I asked to speak to the manager and didn't receive a response until the next day when they told me that I could stay in the room that category that I had reserved and they would refund the added upsell expense they put on me to be in that room. Totally put a damper on my and my partners experience and comfort in our stay there.
In addition, I found the property extremely rundown, they are so-called hot tub was buckled, delaminating and perhaps dangerous. There was a shelf next to the hot tub, held up by angle brackets with nails and screws protruding almost an inch from where they should be seated for proper connection. Our room was filthy there was a layer of dust on top of the armoire that you could plant in.
