I rarely leave reviews, but our stay at Princesa Island Resort and Spa in Puerto Princesa was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that guest experience is not a priority. The front desk staff were rude, unhelpful, and made us feel like we were a bother rather than valued guests.
We booked our room online and were not informed that there would be loud construction happening directly above the rooms starting at 8am. So much for sleeping in or enjoying a peaceful vacation. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable—hard as a rock—and the room itself was not clean. The curtain smelled strongly of mold and mildew, and the general cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
The on-site restaurants were another disaster. Service was painfully slow, and it seemed like the staff didn’t care. After waiting over an hour for dinner one night, we gave up and left. We couldn’t help but feel like we were treated differently for not being Filipino, which was deeply upsetting.
To make matters worse, the place was swarming with mosquitos, and the spa—which should’ve been relaxing—left me bruised. I asked for medium pressure during my massage and had to plead for them to go gentler, but was ignored.
Overall, it was a truly horrible experience. I would never stay here again and strongly advise others to avoid this place. There are far better options in Puerto Princesa—this resort is a huge disappointment.
