We left our village at 6.30am to fly from Liverpool with EasyJet. 14 hours later we were checking into a lovely, though slightly dated 1 bedroom apartment at the Mandalena Hotel in Protaras. It was the first time we have stayed at this family owned Hotel, although we have walked past it loads of times. It’s situated on the original main road, just down from Nicks Bottle Shop. The morning after arrival we had to go to reception. We had no plug for the bath, no bath mat and there was only one chair on our balcony. After speaking to Maria, it was resolved within 5mins. The bathroom itself was large but lacked shelf space. The shower above the bath was great, easily controlled and powerful. The living area was very large with a small built in kitchen area. The fridge worked well and had a freezer compartment at the top. There was a sofa bed and a single fold up bed. The apartment could easily sleep 2 adults and 3 children. Our bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together and we slept really well throughout our holiday. There was 2 wardrobes which had enough space for all our clothes. Quite glad my wife brought some extra hangers though. Next time we visit she is going to bring some washing line and pegs to dry things on the balcony, it would definitely come in handy. The pool and bar area was nicely laid out. We had no problem getting a sunbed anytime we went to the pool. The beds are relatively new and were even more comfortable with the blue foam mats on them. We used the bar a few times, Pannicos the barman was really nice. They had a cocktail of the day for €3.50 and a pint of Keo was €4.50. I must admit the beer was flat every time I had a pint. Quite a few people had food at the bar and it looked good. There was a decent sized main pool and a small kids pool. We did notice a few raised tiles that desperately need some attention! Summing up, we will definitely return to the Mandalena as do a lot of the people we met. The location might not be to everyone’s liking but it is so peaceful and definitely no sunbed wars! Staff are lovely as well, especially the sisters Maria and Niki. Anything we needed they dealt with it quickly and efficiently. Can’t forget their father George who greeted us every night when we came in, a gem of a man.

Nice family run apartments in a good location. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which had a sofa bed in the lounge kitchen area and 2 single beds in the bedroom. It was late when we arrived and very hot. We did not realise that air conditioning was not included in the booking. We purchased the air conditioning the next day at a charge of €5 per unit per day. We decided on just the one unit in the bedroom. We used to leave the bedroom door open so that it also cooled the other room. The rooms are dated but clean and has all you need. The only issue we had with the room was the sofa bed was old and when my daughter turned over it sounded like it was about to collapse. I mentioned to reception and they set up a camp bed which was much better. The other beds were comfortable and had a thick mattress topper which helped. There was no spare pillows you only had 1 pillow per bed and they were very flat I did ask for more and was given 2 cushions without covers and 1 pillow. It also had a 2 ring pan hob and a 2 slice toaster and kettle, pots and pans there are no plugs in any of the sinks so washing up was difficult. The balcony was small and had a small round table and 2 plastic chairs. The staff all friendly and the hotel clean. The pool is nice and had enough beds for all at the time we visited. Some sunbeds had blue cushions which when you suffer with back issues are a god send but they do not have enough for all beds. I noticed people were taking them back to their rooms which was really annoying especially when they would only be at the pool for around 1-2 hours then take them back to their rooms so no one else could use. I did mention this to the staff who said they were regular visitors so it was ok!! It would be much better if the staff told them to leave them for others but kept 2 back each morning for them then once they had used them others could benefit or just get enough to cover all beds. There is also a lot of beds already got towels down but not actually used until later in the day which wasn’t an issue as still able to get a bed but in the high season would be an issue. The pool bar does play some music all day but not loud and is quite relaxing. There is also a baby pool. There is a sign that says only food and drink purchased at the hotel can be consumed round the pool but you could take your own drinks and nothing was said. It’s situated about 10-15 minutes from Protaras main stripe and about the same to Pernera. It does have a car park and tennis courts. I would return here as in a good position and good value for money. The staff are friendly and will try and rectify any issues quickly.
