Generally, everything is fine. Rooms are good, grounds beautiful. Food – hit and miss but we find this in every hotel buffet. Bear in mind the following before booking: The hotel is 2 miles along the (flat) promenade to town, and over 3 miles (c 1hour walk) to the harbour. Playa Blanca is a lovely resort with lots of restaurants, it feels safe with no lager louts, and I prefer hotels nearer to take advantage of it. There are few retail/bars/restaurants near the hotel so you don’t have the option of going out unless you take a taxi. That being said, the hotel has lots to offer in the evening/daytime and this will suit many people. Aimed at families rather than couples IMO: Young families should definitely shortlist this hotel. Older couples like us appreciated the chill-out pool as a respite from the many children. However, we did go at half term (one of us is a teacher). Food: Buffet is chaotic and very noisy with lots of queuing. Food hit and miss, ranging from freshly sauteed scallops in their shells (delicious) to pizzas so dry they were inedible. Food is aimed at an English clientele, so daily roasts etc. I would have liked to have seen more Spanish food. Bacon made from reformed pork is a new culinary low I’d rather not repeat. Service: Generally fine Rooms: Lovely, bright, modern and airy with sea glimpses in standard rooms and floor to ceiling windows that let light flood in. Pictures on website accurate. Definitely shortlist this hotel if you like large family hotels with good facilities, and look for good value. However, on the standard package, it is NOT a five-star hotel as indicated on their website, but the prices do reflect this.
