From the time we entered the restaurant the service was poor. Some of the staff were scruffy and all were inattentive. At every stage of our meal we had to chase the staff for service and removed the charge from our bill. The quality of the food was mediocre.

This was booked as a Christmas present from my folks. It was just lovely. Such a historic pilgrim stop heaped in history. No squeaky floor boards and was not noisy at all with guests walking around and the hotel was full due to it being half term. Gorgeous and inviting fire which the staff encouraged us to sit by as much as possible which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious and a very big bed and huge bath!! (Oak rm) and most importantly quiet yet next to the road. Great black out blind. But the best thing was I wasn’t expecting was the standard of food. It was all stunning. Which explains why lunch was so busy!! Had to wait a little to get a table. Breakfast stunning and highly recommend ‘crispy egg’ starter from the dinner menu if they have that on the menu. Staff were really helpful and friendly to. Great location with plenty to do in Petworth and the area. Petworth House is a must to visit and if you like running and walking the grounds with the deer roaming is super close.

The Angel was selected for one of our evening pub runs and they did not disapoint. About 20 of us sat down in the front dining area and the food was to an excellent standard. Head chef Nick did a really great job and all the staff were wonderfull. I am sure we will return next year.

Called in to have a look and have a beer ,was told rudely that I had ``time for one`` I risked a half of Amstel and it was like Vinegar ! plus expensive and undrinkable ,so I returned to the old pub in the Marketplace and had two pints of good but inexpensive Beer and no rushing me out ,the Angel Inn needs a Manager that likes his /her Job .

My partner and I returned to Petworth to see Petworth House and stayed at The Angel Inn. Our lovely room was called Sweet Chestnut and it had a big comfy bed and a large modern marble bathroom. Lots of storage space and charmingly laid out. We had a couple of great meals at the restaurant whilst there, including an amazing breakfast and hearty lunch. There was a big marquee in the garden, with a celebration going on the afternoon we were there. The staff were all very welcoming and the place was clean and well presented, and it was great that the car park was right opposite the hotel. Petworth park is a five minute walk away and there was a great modern art gallery in Petworth too, Newlands House Gallery. Unfortunately we will miss the Petworth Festival this time, but the town was very buzzy. A great little town!

I would say its over priced for what it was. £230 for a small room with a super king bed with quite a hard mattress. Being an old building you expect the usual cobwebs, wonkey doors and stained carpet. I guess all part of the character of the building. Do expect some road noise at night and its quite warm in there. A fan is supplied but windows are small. The bathroom needed some TLC. Black mould or dirt in the floor grout and I couldn't take a second look at the shower corners, absolutely disgusting black grime. On a minor note, the reception had to pop to the local shop to buy some shower gel as it was missing from the room. Breakfast was included and very nice as was our evening meal. The car park opposite was very convenient but it would be luck of the draw if you were there on a busy weekend.
