Initially I think we booked our wedding reception with the lovely Mel. She was brilliant, we payed in full and got a receipt, confirmed details and got told to send dj song requests to them on Facebook, any questions or needs to get in touch. As the date approaches we got a call from Vanessa. She seemed initially friendly enough, explaining that the previous coordinator had left and she needed fresh notes. As the time went on wedding a few weeks away, I get a call and the receptionist tells me to “stop texting the dj as that’s not the correct one”, I hadn’t been and proved that I was in fact sending to her on Facebook. She gave me a different number and told me to text my requests. I did this, turns out he’s an ambulance paramedic and that this kept happening to him. Went and explained this and Vanessa reassured us they had a new dj but it would in fact be extra cost to us, we explained we paid in full and clarified no extra charges upon booking. She wasn’t happy but “took the hit”, we left the conversation feeling deflated and worried about the day as the whole conversation was condescending. Vanessa then a week or so before asked for another meeting as she didn’t have the notes anymore, something to do with filing. I went and took my now husband and children. We agreed a set up time of 10am due to hair and makeup bookings, she assured us this was fine. The day comes and she tells us to wait till 12, we explained we can’t and say we are happy to even clean the room ourselves whatever is needed so we can set up. She was rude, condescending and genuinely ruined my entire wedding morning. I was incredibly stressed so went outside for a moment. Came back and Vanessa shouted in my face “I will not be spoken to like that”, my mum had asked her to leave a table cloth in place politely (we have probably 5/6 adult witnesses to this). Turns out she had shouted at my mum that the fitz was loosing money and she could cancel. My mum was reduced to tears as was I, I really don’t like people wagging fingers in my face (literally). Eventually we got set up and left. Upon leaving I said trying to be friendly and diffuse the situation “sure we are all stressed it’ll be easier later”, she smirked and laughed “I’m not stressed been married four times”. At the end of the reception, amazing bar staff and dj. The bar staff explained how surprisingly nice we all seemed as Vanessa had informed one of them that “the bride was ok but the mum was vile”, and I recall correctly to watch her drinks. Bridal sweet was lovely, Vanessa in the morning very friendly. There are also lots of little bits with the general organisation of the fitz arms that are seemingly a practical joke honestly. Would love the contact details of actual hotel owner if anyone has them. My mum would like to contact them directly due to distress this all caused. 3 main 5* members of staff Ian, Sharon Jodie made my stay so comfortable. Sadly it was ruined by an obnoxious, rude and totally unprofessional attitude when she told me I was not a priority after ordering a meal 20th July 25 as Wedding guests were her priority. She made me wait 90 mins for a jacker potato and told me I wasn't in The Hilton!!!!!!! Rottweiler Vanessa apparently the Manageress. Can't imagine who interviewed her to give a business such a terrible name??? 2 members of staff were standing there when she said these dreadful things to me when I hadn't complained????? Needless to say I won't be going back there. Hope people are aware of her presence before they book. Ian the receptionist was an outstanding member of staff. Pity this awful woman can't take a leaf out of his book! Angela

Room stained flooring and very basic. No one on reception when we returned at 6.30pm to ask for wifi code and coffee for the room. Return to find someone had been in our room. So barricaded the door incase whoever returned. TV as large as a tablet. Noise omg! 2 lots of music extremely loud til midnight.. Vibrating the floor also of our room . Unable to sleep let alone hear the TV. No one to complain to. Bed most uncomfortable..shower is like a tardis had to open the door to bend over to wash feet and neither of us are of a large build. Would of been nice when we picked key up at 2pm to be today about the noise and how unhygienic the place was. Trading Standards need to close it down

Diabolical We arrived 6.30pm reception closed. We went to local asda to get some food hoping reception would be open on our return. Still closed. So no one to ask for, coffee, Wi-Fi code if they had one. We got back to our room and someone had been in while we was out. No one to complain to. So barricaded the door with our case. The Room extremely dated and stained floor. Bed very uncomfortably, Shower very small needed a door open to enable to bend over to wash feet. The worse bit was the noise. We had travelled over 4hrs and wanted a goods night sleep. 2 lots of extremely loud musix thomping through into the room. When we checked in to get room key at 2pm no mention of parties no mention of anything. Terrible service will not return and will not recommend anyone going there.

Last minute booking due to arriving a terrible accommodation elsewhere. The receptionist could not have been more helpful and the bar staff are all very friendly

This was very well priced. Despite being in a run down neighbourhood, the room was clean and acceptable. The girl on reception was very pleasant and willing to be of assistance.
