We stayed at Alba Opera Hotel for 5 nights late March to early April. We had a very pleasant stay. We stayed in room 63 and our friend stayed in room 24. Both rooms had a good size for Paris and especially room 24 was very spacious, it had a spare little room and a balcony which was big enough for a small table and 2 chairs. Room 63 had kind of an upstairs section for the double bed (warning: the stairs were steep and narrow), thereby making the living space in the room bigger. The rooms had totally different styles of decorations but both were nice. Room 24 had a bath in addition to a shower, and both rooms provided bath gel and a hair/body wash which were replenished daily. Both rooms had a kettle and mugs but no tea, coffee, or milk was provided by the hotel. We were fine with that as we popped into one of the close by minimarkets and got the essentials there. Room 63 had a fridge which did not work, but luckily we were able to give a small bag of some essentials to the fridge each day and they stored it for us in a communal fridge. Therefore it was only a minor inconvenience, but it would still be good if they would have the fridge repaired. The rooms had an information booklet about the hotel and surrounding area. It was exceptionally informative, including details of the closeby metro stations and bus stops, and instructions on how to find some close by destinations. We only had breakfast one morning and found it fresh and tasty but not filling enough for our tastes: It consisted of a glass of orange juice each, a small pot of jam each, some butter, pastries and breads and of course tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The people at the reception were all pleasant, friendly and polite. The location is good with several metro lines and metro stops within a short walking distance. In addition some main sights are within walking distance and there are lots of restaurants close by, for example on rue des Martyrs. For some people the photos on the walls might be a bit risqué, but we did not mind, they were still artistic and the photography was of high quality. Our friend remarked though that she would not be comfortable staying there with small children as some of the photos might be tricky to explain to children: "Grandma, why is that lady dressed like that?" One evening we ordered a bottle of wine for 20 euros from the reception. We thought that the price was sensible - even though much more expensive than getting it from a local minimarket - but as it was raining and we wanted to have a night in it was a price worth paying. The area around the hotel is quiet, there is very little traffic on the street, the sound insulation with the double glazed windows worked well and we never heard any noise from the neighbouring rooms. Overall we had a very good stay and would happily stay at Alba Opera Hotel again.
