Staying in a large tent behind the sand dunes next to the ocean was an experience! Really cool and worth a stay for something different that is also relaxing!

The lodge is on the verge of being non-functional and is not recommended due to a lack of comfort, security, and available meals. Despite privately sharing our feedback with the management, there has been no response to our emails. Therefore, we have decided to publicly share our feedback to raise awareness among people.

We've stayed at Back of Beyond Dune Camp for 2 nights. During our stay we also booked an epic safari! In a way we might have been lucky that we've seen so many different species of wildlife but we believe that this was also due to the expertise of our excellent ranger Sanka. The dune camp is a lovely place to stay right next to the sea. The dunes are georgous at sunset and the dune walk arranged by the campsite (again with Sanka) was an excellent way to already get acquainted with many of the birds to be seen in Yala NP and also provided stunning views overlooking the ocean on top of the white sandy dunes. We've stayed in a awesome tent with a beautiful Seaview. It really was perfect and definitely one off the highlights during our 4 week stay in Sri Lanka. The staff is incredibly friendly and did everything to make our stay memorable. Especially on the last evening, they had a lovely surprise for us.. Which I do not want to spoil!! Just go there, enjoy and definitely book a safari tour with Sanka!

Truly a magical experience. The luxury tents at Back of Beyond Dune Camp are nestled in coastal sand dunes, some with ocean views. While here you can take a nature walk with an expert guide and of course do the safaris in the nearby Yala and Bundala national parks. The food was delicious with large portions. The staff could not have been more helpful. 100% recommend.

This is a very special place. You are staying in a tented safari camp feet away from the ocean in a protected dune area. There are only 4 tents in Back of Beyond, which means the experience is largely private and remote. The camp keeps the lighting minimal which means you can see thousands, if not millions of stars at night. The food is local, not fussy, and fresh quality. The last night we had a BBQ on the beach and the fish was sourced from the fisherman just a few miles away. We stayed at many fancier hotels over our trip but this one of our favorite experiences. The service is exceptional. Coffee delivered to your tent. No outlandish kids request refused. The only reason I am not giving out five stars are the amenities. Let's just say it could use a little sprucing up. The bedding is somewhat old, the mosquito nets have a few holes, the water pressure on the outdoor shower is spotty and the camp could benefit from more comfortable chairs giving the time you'll spend lounging. With the above in mind I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Back of Beyond.
