Excellent service from the reception staff to the bar staff. All queries answered straight away.

Room clean good service restaurant was totally full

Front desk management are incompetent. Check in is 3pm. Room was not ready until 5.15pm. No apologies no offer to do anything would not even consider giving me a different room to one allocated even in same price rate. If you book direct thry will magically find you a room but as my booking was with '*******' I was told more than once to go away. Need better management more cleaning staff and people who know what they are doing. Other than the running of the place the hotel is clean and new. Its a shame someone built a great brand new hotel and staffed it full of people who either don't care or have no idea. Parking is small and expensive be aware if you get a space you won't be able to use your car as chances are there be no space when you come back.

On arrival had to pay £15 for parking which was not advertised. Asked if we could make a dinner reservation we’re told there was no need . Came down for dinner at 7.30 was told fully booked had to wait 1.5 hours for a table. Could not order drinks from the bar had to go through waiter. On 2 occasions after waiting 20-30 mins after ordering had to go and ask were the drinks are. Was asked about breakfast on check in and said I would decide in the morning. Decided to have breakfast in the morning had to pay an extra 6 pounds each because it was on the day at no point did reception inform me of this on check . For a 4 star hotel and at a cost of £130 for the night this was absolutely disgusting. Will never use this hotel again.

Very impressive hotel from the outside then we went in, there was a business conference there so we waitied to get checked in the reception were very polite to the business men then calling them sir and over polite then when it was our turn to check in all that politeness stopped as we turned up in holiday attire not business suits, there was no sir for us or i hope you enjoy your stay sir nothing very rude!!. Dont get me wrong the hotel is extremely well decorated and rooms were fantastic apart from the air conditioning generating a fault code and went into maintenance position. Would i stay here again?. Its a beautiful hotel really nice but the welcome was not so nice they made me feel like a third world person so for that reason no i would not stay again.

Some teething troubles as a new hotel but a pleasant visit overall, and staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Room very clean, however i found several hairs both on the sheet and under it on the maytress cover. Staff at reception apologised and said it would be raised with the cleaning contractors. I then found the TV didnt work, and when the duty manager came to look he offered a room change which i accepted. New room was fine and bed clean this time. Breakfast buffet was good, though they really need to install at least one more coffee machine as one just isn't enough. As i said the staff i interacted with were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy, shower decent and room was a good size. Altogether a pleasant stay.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Mercure in Paignton. It is right on the sea front with nice views (if you have a sea view room) and loads of facilities nearby. The hotel was only a few weeks old when we stayed so it was beautifully presented. The rooms were well equipped, clean and had a huge bed, large enough that it could almost have been called a family room.

Excellent room and staff. Breakfast ok, 1st morning was refused to make poached egg which is disappointing for hotel standard, also seemed a bit disorganised and under staffed.

The hotel has only been open a few weeks, so everything was very good. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was delicious too.It's in an excellent position to explore South Devon
