"This hotel absolutely does not deserve its 4 stars, the positive point is the cleanliness of the rooms. The swimming pool, the sauna and the hammam and the “playground” area but that’s the only thing. The rooms are from another time (1960) The bathtub/shower taps almost broken, almost no water pressure Horrible heat in the rooms. The wallpaper that is peeling off The courtesy tray consists of a kettle (from the 80s) and a few tea bags, really not worthy of a 4 star. The gentleman at reception is unpleasant. If you want a bathrobe for the swimming pool, it costs 5 euros per person. The lunch buffet is not great and not very varied, the lady who takes care of it is not more friendly than the one at reception. Very disappointed with this hotel, I absolutely do not recommend!!!"

"I arrive on Friday in front of the hotel and I read that check in must be done at the reception of the main hotel, which is fine because it is close by, a 4 minute walk, but with the suitcases (and the rain) maybe you should say so in advance so you can go directly there. I arrive in the room and the heating does not work, I call the reception and nobody answers. I ask a Belgian friend to help me call and I go out for lunch. I go back to the room and find a letter of apology and a change of batteries for the remote control. The radiator is only in the bathroom and in the room there is a very noisy siphon for hot air - that is take it or leave it. So in the nights I spent in the hotel this siphon turned on and off (once the set temperature was reached) feeling like I was in a factory, it was not a pleasant sleep at all. Really noisy both during the act of heating and the loud "tac" when it turned off and considering that it happened every 20/25 minutes it was not at all pleasant. Bottle of water only on arrival, drank that and the following days no water available. Considering that the siphon dried the air a lot in the morning we woke up very thirsty. The third morning at about 9.30 I hear a knock and then a loud shout, I answer "what?" in English but they answer me in Flemish which unfortunately I don't understand. After two minutes another very loud knock and more shouting in Flemish I answer with "what?" again and again loud shouting that I don't understand and then a "cleaning!" to which I answer with "later please" and I hear an ok as a response, always very loud. I go out and come back in the evening after a day of work and the room hasn't been made, this bothers me a bit. In my opinion, all in all, very bad service from this hotel. The room is not bad and the bed is comfortable, shower large clean bathroom. However, the noisy siphon at night is truly unbearable, the option was to sleep very cold but sleep, which I did the last night by not turning on the siphon. Noise or cold? There was also a tiny electric heater for heat, but of course it did little."

"Had to book this one at 1am as got stuck in Oostende, charged 147 Euros with breakfast. No real complaints although I think the price was a bit naughty, when they wouldn't have sold that room otherwise. Average experience all round and definitely not worth 147 Euros"

"Nice studio, nice terrace. View of the sea is not really applicable, in the far distance you can see a little bit of the sea. No coffee available, bed creaks but clean. Much too warm!!! You could not turn down the heating! That was a real shame because I was boiling hot during the night."

"Unpleasant and dishonest... During a weekend in Ostend, we stayed at Hotel Europe. The staff at the reception are unfriendly. To punctuate everything, we left a shirt and two jackets in the bedroom wardrobe when we left. We went back to school in the afternoon and the clothes disappeared. We felt like we were annoying the receptionist. I'm still waiting for management to get back to me after 3 emails and a message... For a 4 star, it's a shame. Don't go there... "

"Located in the heart of Oostende, this hotel is a has quite a bit of charm of the old days (art-deco dining room and many original details in the public spaces). Interiors of the rooms are a little bit more modern, albeit the age starts showing. The room was, however, clean and tidy. The owner/manager was very nice and offered an option to check in later than originally planned. She also offered guidance around the town, and was overall super friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was tasty and set us up for the day rather well, Disliked · I would consider starting renovations as soon as possible, as the rooms are ageing and this translates into some things being broken or on the verge of being broken. WIFI didn't quite work."
