I just hosted a group there yesterday. We have been coming here for 20 years and I was so disappointed . Many entries have been removed from the menu and the prices have increased. I had a mediocre crab cake for $30 ! And a friend had a bowl of soup for $19! For a bowl of cream soup ! Really ! They would not give her a cup. I am done !! We are not coming back !!!!!!

We are repeat guests multiple times over at this boutique inn. So we were stunned at the lack of compassion and customer service when my husband and I came down with a terrible case of Covid and 48 hours in advance asked the hotel if we could switch dates. Mind you.. not get a refund, but simply switch dates. At likely the slowest time of the year for this place, the answer was no. We were instead reminded that we could have purchased travel insurance. For such a high-end place that prides itself on five star reviews, I’m surprised at the lack of customer service and inability to work with a repeat guest. Again. I wasn’t asking for a refund. We simply wanted to come on a different date a few days later when we weren’t so sick. We would have made any date offered work. I work in customer service myself. There are always solutions to make a customer/guest happy. This place offered none. We lost $400, but they lost so much more. Our last stay with them was truly our last. Such an incredible shame, but there are many amazing options in the Charlottesville area. Luckily, we live nearby and are familiar with all of them. And certainly familiar with the ones we are willing to recommend to family and friends in the future. And this place is no longer one of them.

We did not stay at the Inn but we dined the restaurant, Vintage, for 2 consecutive nights. (Although we do plan do on staying at the Inn on our next visit to the area.) On the 1st night, Wednesday, who is the FOH manager and Somm asked the Chef de Cuisine, Jon Martin , to curate a 4 course dinner with wine paired by Wednesday. The food, wine and service were all on point. Night 2 started with sparkling wine and we ordered several small plates the main menu: Scallops, raw oysters, rarebit, Bao buns.... and as we had along day of wine tastings and eating cheese we decided to split the Rockfish entree and it was fantastic. Somehow we snuck in house made ice creams and phyllo cake to finish paired with an Ice wine. The restaurant has an old world feel with a fireplace, exposed brick and dark wood timbers. Inviting and cozy.

Friends invited us for dinner at their cozy restaurant. We started with a cocktail in the small cottage they stayed in and it was delightful. We walked to the main house / restaurant (only 50 yds away) and the dinner was magnificent! Super cozy inside; brick, fireplace, etc. great service too. I’m a tough critic eating out and this place was superb!!

The grounds were incredible and pristinely maintained. Our dinner was fabulous and the service throughout the stay was impeccable. We topped off an amazing stay with a couples massage at the spa. One of the best spa visits I have ever had, awesome massage and facilities met all my criteria for a spa (great massage, great shower, great robes, and a relaxation room). We just left and we are already figuring when we can go back. Highly recommend.

Absolutely perfect stay. The overlook cottage is perfect for your fur family. Our dogs were welcomed and well taken care of. The rooms are comfortable and the grounds are serene. Vintage restaurant is top notch. Relaxed service and creative dishes.
