What pub these days don’t allow dogs and children in for food and beers on a Saturday when the pub is quarter full. Rude staff to boot. The 7 of us went into Thornbury and spent £150 on a meal and beers. Good luck to you as a business, clearly stuck in the 70’s still.

After sitting down, getting drinks and placing our food order for 6 adults and 2 children we were told that actually no children or dogs welcome in the pub! All very awkward as orders had been taken and nothing mentioned. We were told we could stay inside for the meal. Later when wanting to order puddings we were told we would have to move outside and would have to be eat them outside ( it was heavily raining). Apparently their “ policy” is not to allow children or dogs, which was explained to me by a young, inexperienced bar staff who had no idea about customer service. Perhaps it might be an idea to explain this at point of arrival, not once we had ordered over £120 worth of food and drinks and settled in our seats, telling us 30 mins later so we all very awkward So the summarise the service was beyond rude and to add further insult to injury the food was very average - roasts - bland - Luke warm. No condiments like mustard or even cutlery offered until we chased them - other food choices - again no flavour and Luke warm - staff - inexperienced and clearly not trained on how to deal with paying customers professionally. When I asked to speak to the manager apparently they were “upstairs” not available The irony is this pub is opposite a popular dog walking route / family walk along the Severn. So very behind the times.

The Anchor Inn er en god lille Inn langt ude på landet. Meget hyggeligt værelse med en god seng og ingredienser til tilberedning af en basic morgenmad.

Comfy clean room. Breakfast provided in the room is good ...unless you want a full fry up. Fresh & milk and generous coffee pods always a good sign. Why do I have to leave 200 characters for a Tripadvisor review? Apologies for this ramble at the end to meet the quota.

One night in the Anchor inn The Anchor inn is a beautiful traditional British inn. The bar is very friendly and the staff are very helpful. There is a good restaurant serving a selection of home cooked snacks and meals. There are 3 rooms for stays with complimentary cold breakfasts. A selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit juice etc. There are toasters in the rooms along with small fridges. The rooms are very pleasant and offer walk in showers, spotless linen and towels, comfortable beds , irons and hairdryers. We really enjoyed our one night at the Anchor inn and would like to return. There is free on site car parking, children are welcome. The bedrooms are accessed via an exteria stone stairway. For the traditional beer drinkers there are several traditional beer and ciders on offer including Bass served by gravity from the barrel
