卡波厄之家(The Capoe House)

Une très très belle découverte ! Nous avons eu le privilège de tester cet hébergement à 1000 m d’altitude près d HAPUTALE. Celui ci unique en son genre a été notre coup de cœur au Sri Lanka. Sa situation géographique sa déco, son isolement et les petites attentions du personnel qui tiennent cet établissement font de lui un moment de quiétude, de sereinité qui permettent de pouvoir se reposer et profiter d’une vue à couper le souffle .

We stayed at The Capoe House with our 18 month old for three days in Jan and had a really lovely time, despite the weather being a little tricky and wet! The hotel is situated very remotely in the hills which means its very quiet and great for bird watching. It does mean its not accessible by normal vehicle and requires you to be brought up a rough track for 15 mins or so in their truck. The road is pretty wild and has a lot of very large potholes (and literally missing bits)- I was glad the last time we had to make the journey! It also means that going anywhere is a little bit more laborious. However, the staff were amazing and so accommodating, so arranging transport to and from our driver was never an issue! We were the only guests for part of the time (there are only 3 rooms in total- 2 in main house and the new "villa" next door which is where we were). Eranda the manager is amazing! He was fabulous at communicating via whatsapp prior to our arrival and whilst we were there. He looked after our toddler whilst we enjoyed our dinner and arranged a great cookery demonstration with Madushanka the chef. On that point, the food Madushanka made was fabulous! The breakfast was delicious and the dinner, especially the black pork curry was brilliant! Lalith and Dilshan (butlers) were great- they kept Arthur entertained for hours playing ball games with him! The villa had only been open for a month or so and in general was lovely. Great shower and the bedroom with the balcony was lovely. The sink in the bathroom lacked hot water and the toilet leaked slightly. The pool is pretty small, although it wasn't the weather for it anyway. The hotel is probably most suitable for people keen to go on nature walks locally (Eranda is a trained guide and can spot the tiniest bird from miles off), although be wary of the leeches! We had a lovely 3 days, which is probably as long as you'd want to stay given the remote location, and would highly recommend!

The staff here are exceptional. Best food (so far) in Sri Lanka too. We stayed in the villa (2 adults and 2 kids) which was enough room as they are small but the set up downstairs meant we couldn’t really relax in the space. It wouldn’t have been such a problem if the weather was nice. It rained and was really cloudy so it felt a little claustrophobic. I’ve read the other reviews and they are accurate…it’s just perhaps this place wasn’t our idea of relaxed luxury. Very nice though. Would be good for couples.

Stayed for a night as it was fully booked and i could get room only for a night. Took the train from Kandy and got down at Haputhale. The Hotel arranged pick up from the station at a reasonable cost. Station is 30 min drive. The last 5-10 min or so are done in a 4*4 vehicle, we were greeted by Eranda who drove us up to the house. Its a Boutique property overlooking the Haputale mountains. You will certainly not be disappointed by these views! It has 2 rooms, both mountain facing on the 1st floor and a recently done villa. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink followed by afternoon high tea with a spread of delicious assortments. The staff were extremely accomodating and made us feel right at home. We also enjoyed the delicious 4 course meal which is also included in the tariff. What a treat! Hats off to the chef! Our rooms were wonderfully furnished with quality bedding and clean bathrooms. The bed and the balcony are both overlooking the mountains where you can sit and spend endless hours. There is also a small swimming pool. There are books and games on the ground floor if you want a break from the spectacular views. They also have a good collection of liquor and you can also try their cocktails. The breakfast was oh so hearty and delicious, we had the srilankan breakfast. We did a small walk in the morning and saw multiple birds, peacock, mongoose etc. Even though we stayed for a short time, thank you to Eranda and the other staff for being so friendly and keeping us company throughout. The stay was definitely the highlight of our trip. We will surely be back again! Thank you for having us. Must recommend for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers!

Wir haben im Chalet übernachtet und es war einfach traumhaft schön. Der Ausblick atemberaubend, der Service auf höchstem Niveau. Das Essen perfekt. Ein perfekter Ort um sich für eine ruhige Zeit zurückzuziehen, vielleicht eine Wanderung zu unternehmen. Wir hatten das Gefühl im Paradies zu sein.

We were greeted so kindly by the resident manager Eranda and the team who drove us up to the house. The Capoe House is a little gem overlooking the scenic views of the Haputale mountains. You will certainly not be disappointed by these views! We were welcomed with a wonderful afternoon high tea with a spread of delicious assortments of Sri Lankan bites and variety of teas. The staff were extremely accomodating and made us feel right at home. Our family of 5 certainly enjoyed the delicious 4 course meal we were served for dinner starting with a take on the Sri Lankan vadai, sides of Homemade bread served with a heart-warming soup, the perfectly cooked pork with home grown seasonal vegetables and herbs and for dessert, a warm banana fritter with chocolate syrup and ice cream. What a treat! Hats off to the chef! The following morning, we woke up feeling so refreshed and we sat on the balcony overlooking the breath-taking views of the mountains with our morning cuppa. Our rooms were wonderfully furnished with quality bedding and clean bathrooms and having the bookshelf stored with a variety of books especially for kids, felt very homely and very thoughtful. The breakfast was oh so hearty and delicious. You could tell the quality of the produce and food provided were outstanding. Even though we stayed for a short time, thank you to Eranda for being a fantastic host and keeping us company throughout. We felt so comfortable and was truly a fantastic experience. Very family friendly as well! We will surely be back again! Thank you for having us.

Great customer service,The staff at this property are all great! delicious food for reasonable price,calm and glamorous place for a couple to enjoy the vacation.overall it's worth more than what you spend.
