Room was clean could of had better selection for breakfast

Hotel is not that old but there are signs if significant decline. We booked two rooms. When entering the second room, a rotting food smell was apparent. We got another room assigned but discovered that the door card reader malfunctioned. We got beyond that issue and after taking a shower, my wife found that the air conditioner was not working. Requested a 3rd room. It was ok but she found debris from a previous guest under the bed. We won’t return. My observation, based only on dealing with the night crew, is that staff and manager are poorly trained and not prepared.

I enjoyed my stay here and plan to return. Quiet location, but still close to good restaurants and other amenities. The staff was friendly checking me in and the hotel was clean. I did smell my neighbor cooking his supper, but I guess that’s expected when staying at extended-stay hotels. Overall, the hotel had a new feel and my room was clean. I stayed in a King Studio Suite, which was spacious.

I showed up on Monday July 17th 2023 around 8pm and the receptionist said they had accidentally deleted my reservation and they were sold out. Instead of offering to fix this they suggested I call another Marriott. The nearby Marriotts were also all sold out. At that point the check in clerk had her supervisor on the phone and he suggested I call the Holiday Inn. I have never been to a Marriott before where they admitted they were at fault for deleting the reservation and did nothing to fix it. The one time I've been at another Marriott that was oversold they had another room lined up at a different Marriott for me before I even got there. The service from this Towneplace Suites in Newburgh is not what I expect from a Marriott. These twits should all be fired.

We stayed for one night. The front desk check-in was quick and staff was friendly. Our room was very comfortable. Bed was comfy and the room was quiet throughout the night. Cleaning staff in the hall were friendly as we walked by. They had a variety of food available for breakfast.
