BE AWARE. The hotel staff robbed our room and stole about 2000 US dollars cash and our US passports. We found out as we were about to check out and travel to another state. We called the police who were expectedly useless! A security camera had a recorded all movements during our stay. We had to plead with the staff to look at the recording which showed that only the cleaning staff entered the room in our absence. The hotel manager was not on the premises declined to speak with us and come to deal with the crime situation. He only showed up when the police came and refused to even acknowledge the problem or even speak to us. We were about to lose our flights and our hotel reservations in the next city had we stayed to pursue any resolution with the hotel. Worst part of this is is that this property felt very secure with a gated security door that is monitored 24/7. Instead, we were robbed by the staff we trusted with our safety and the safety of our belongings. The manager of the hotel should have investigated and found the thief on his team. Instead he refused to even show his face at the hotel. We asked to speak with the hotel owners but the staff refused to provide the contact info. Owners will hopefully read this and take corrective measures to ensure no other guest are violated and no more crimes committed. At a minimum they should refund cost of our stay. The staff, except for the manager and the thief, were super kind and just wonderful, especially Mitzi.

We really enjoyed our stay at the ArcoSodi. The hotel is about 5 or 6 blocks from the historic center of Oaxaca City. To me this is a plus as it is much more quiet and tranquil when you want to escape the city. The hotel has the added benefit of being close to the Merced Market which I liked better for eating than the 20 de Noviembre market in the center. The rooms were comfortable and the inner courtyard was great for enjoying the included breakfast and for sharing a drink in the afternoon. What I really enjoyed the most was the staff. The staff really made us feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. I would definitely return to the ArcoSodi again on my next visit to Oaxaca. It should be better as the hotel is in the process of adding more suites and a new rooftop bar. My only two issues were: 1) the locks on the doors were a bit awkward and according to the owner will be replaced and 2) one time the water ran out while I was taking a shower although my spouse went to the front desk and got it going again.

Como estar en casa. Es un hotel con un encanto muy especial en el que, además del sitio, el trato humano nos ha hecho sentir como en nuestra casa. Alfredo, Magna y Alma son realmente encantadores y han estado pendientes de nosotros y de cualquier cosa que necesitásemos durante toda nuestra estancia. También conocimos a la dueña, Gabi, que tuvo el detalle de venir a desayunar con nosotros y contarnos un poco de la historia del hotel. Maravilloso. Todas las habitaciones son diferentes y encantadoras. Alfredo nos ayudó antes y durante la estancia organizandonos excursiones y recomendanos sitios. Ubicación, está en una zona tranquila pero a 5 minutos andando del Centro de Oaxaca.
