Good: Spaces room, asian breakfast with my favorite indochina fried eggs. clean with one exception. Bad: hard beds. thin curtain (does not block the light), beds on wheels which could not be blocked, thus moving around when getting up at night. dirty water heating can, wasn't dusted for a long time. thus no coffee or tea. the killer: both key card did no longer work after 10 pm. extra trip down. worst of all: my friend returned 2:30 am after disco. the frontdesk is as per advertisement 24 hours. but nobody at the front desk. since i am heard of hearing with hearing aids removed when sleeping, no knocking short of an earthquake with 7 on the scale would wake me up. Luckily based on my earlier experience with the keycard i put the mobile in a way that i might wake up when it lights on. and luckily i did. but took me quite some time to fall asleep again. Complaining to the GM: not onsite in the morning and had to talk on phone, it was very difficult to hear him. the simple ”sorry” i heard is not acceptable. Conclusion: HOTEL IS BLACK LISTED btw. don't believe the room pictures. our room looked worse.
Location/ about a 10–15-minute walk into town along a promenade on the banks of the Mekong or there is generally a tuk-tuk waiting outside the front of the hotel Room/ was comfortable enough with a fridge, safe and bathroom with walk-in shower but lacked finishing touches and attention to detail. Safe wasn’t working initially but soon rectified, only one chair on balcony for 2 people, bathroom door difficult to close, one key card for 2 people, house keeping not great, screws sticking out of walls etc etc Breakfast/ the best thing at this hotel is the food. Excellent buffet breakfast with really friendly service, served 6.30am to 10am, always plenty of it enjoyed either in the very nice breakfast room or outside on a terrace. Egg station cooking eggs to order 4 different ways. General/ lots of secure off-road parking down the side of the hotel and behind. The rooms are in 2 separate blocks adjacent to each other with pool containing fish and seating area between them. Check out the Sky bar on top of one of the 2 blocks. Opens at 3pm and serves good selection of food at reasonable prices with great views over the town, the Mekong and into Laos beyond, great for sunsets. Would I stay here again? Yes, due to location, breakfast and Sky bar
A friend of mine and myself stayed in a room with two single beds for about 30 USD a night. The room was spacious, clean and auite. The woman at the reception spoke English very well and gave us all helpful information we needed. The breakfast was good. We choosed it because it quite close to the train station and my friend had to cath a train to Bangkok early in the morning. To go downtown where the restaurants and coffeeshops ar situated you need a Tuctuc or you have to walk for about 30 minutes.
PARK and POOL, If your going to stay at Nongkhai.....Then this resort is the place to stay, the pool and gardens are just beautiful, a tropical paradise. Walking distance to the lao boarder, hire a scooter from the hotel, short ride down the back street past local shops, cafes, massage shops down to walking street, the markets....to the mighty Mekong for the view & dinner etc....but OMG did mention the tropical paradise back at the resort. We had the best poolside villa...was what made it for us, staff always there for customers
One of the finest resort in Thailand! Beats the Failed Marriott Surawongse hands down in terms of Welcoming, Services from the Heart and Accommodating to guests needs! The breakfast is delicious and impressive. The owners are modest, friendly and great people! I stayed in the stand alone bungalow and exclusivity is fantastic! This is the true 5 stars hotel NOT the Marriott Surawongse!
訪訪客用戶beware some of the Tripadvisor pictures are not Sofa Gallery Hotel. The Sofa Gallery is somewhat dirty, breakfast is terrible, rooms are small. The bathroom to our room was on the balcony. Sofa Gallery is run down. When I asked for coffee to wash down the breakfast I was told only instant coffee. I asked about the coffee and was told it has not worked in a couple years. I asked for anything to was down the breakfast and was told I could buy bottled water. The pool water 1/4 to 1/3 full, tv didnt work. Rundown.
