Set on a river in the mountains, the Zen Hostel is in a beautiful setting and quiet. The rooms are large and uncrowded. Included breakfast is huge and good. Tea and coffee are free 24 hours. Great location to start your hiking from. Scout is unbelievable as an owner/host. And this inn is known among the best traveled guests--who were great to stay with.

This was my favoriete say in all Japan. Scout (host) is a open minded guy with a lot of jokes. I did breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days and it was very good! Everything is fresh and home made. I booked for 2 nights but I stayed 3 nights. Scout have a lot to do over there you can visit temples but you can also go in the mountains to hike. You can see monkeys and bears, how cool! I definitely recommend this place. When I come back to Japan I will go definitely go back! Bram (from Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
