We had my birthday dinner at the Vanderbilt. The room is spacious and beautiful. We will definitely return. Oddly, we had to have a 5:15 reservation, which was early for us. The room never did fill while we were there. They seated us over an air conditioning vent and did try to cover it. We were squashed in between the bar and the entry to a private room with constant wait staff walking by. Finally, my leg began to hurt because of an uncomfortable chair and the angle due to the ac cover. My husband said, "Enough," and asked for a new table. Since the room was empty at 5:30, they graciously moved us to another table and then we proceeded to have the kind of evening I had in mind. I had the duck and cherries, which was superb. My husband had clams in a shell with pasta, he couldn't stop raving. He loved the wine. For dessert we shared a chocolate torte. Perfect! I was comfortable, my leg no longer hurt and we left very satisfied. Before we left, our sweet waitress presented me with birthday macaroons and a candle - delightful. We will definitely return. The food was marvelous.

We came for a girls' weekend, and everything was amazing. Location is perfect. The hotel staff are warm, friendly and polite. The spa amenities are on point. The rooms are absolutely lovely & impeccably clean. There is absolutely not one thing I could improve about this hotel and the people who care for it. Well done, Auberge. Well done.

Our stay at the hotel was amazing ! You could not ask for a better staff! From the front desk , door man , house cleaning , very professional and welcoming ! We stayed 4 days and it was perfect ! Heated indoor pool and sauna was amazing , the warm atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and the cocktails are on point .. different lounges to sit and relax and pass the time away ,location for Newport was perfect and very easy parking

Only two blocks off Thames Street, an utter rubbish dump of a tourist trap, is the sublime Vanderbilt. I slid in on a Monday afternoon and my mind was detonated. Blown. Off. You may assume that the staff might tire, might be off their game on a Monday in August. After the weekend. After lunch. No such thing. However, the staff was not obsequious. No “Yessmm,” Everything was direct, friendly and attentive. And genuine. Let’s finish this with the price. When you think Newport, you think Gilded Age, Luxury, Dukes, Vandys, etc. Money. This is gonna cost me. Think again. Think about that rubbery lobster roll you ate on the aforementioned Thames Street for $36 where the tables were sticky and the Nickleback on the speakers made your ears bleed. Again, let’s finish with the price. My God, the price. $18 for a perfect lunchtime lobster roll. It’s up to you. Choose your destiny. I’ll stop there.

Bel hôtel de Newport, au charme légèrement désuet mais envoutant... Roofdeck fabuleux d'où voir la mer et le pont qui mène à Newport... Flexibilité, chaleur de l'accueil, simplicité, chambre spacieuse et bien décorée... Les pièces communes ont un charme fou...

The first night we stayed in 313. I woke up at 3am covered in spider bites all over my feet. When looking around the room we saw numerous spider webs and nets. It was disgusting. We also saw clumps of dirt on the floor also disgusting. We asked for the sheets to be changed. When I went to take a nap because I was exhausted, I pulled back the sheets and saw a MASSIVE stain on the sheets. It was nasty and horrifying. I was incredibly upset and physically and mentally uncomfortable. I have stayed at many different Auberge properties across the country and have NEVER experienced something like this! It was disturbing. After a lot of back and fourth with hotel staff, we finally were able to change rooms which was much better. The only positive was the manager of housekeeping Cliff was GREAT throughout the whole process.
